Because I consider their judgement suspect. A mothers natural instinct is generally to want to protect their children, to want to seek out potential fathers who would provide for them and support them.
Therefore, i'd seriously question the judgement of women who would choose somebody capable of such an atrocious crime, to the extent where i'd believe that there must be something psychologicaly wrong with her.

How do you know the guy wasn't sent down for murdering someone who threatened his children?

The guy who killed his wife’s lover is a bit different to someone who dismembered a hitchhiker, no?
Of course, and i know in the grand scheme of things that we're all capable of murder. I also haven't said that he shouldn't be allowed to father a child.
He has however, shown the propensity towards murder. Whatever the circumstances that led to him carrying it out, he showed that he is not only capable but prepared to act on it.
I wouldn't question anybody being able to have a relationship with somebody in this situation, however, being prepared to raise a family with them, to me is something different entirely.

Your point being that he showed the ability to protect his children?
I'd suggest that it would be an incredibly unstable person who thought "he'll kill anybody who tries to hurt our kids".
