You know everyone gains the same amount of XP points regardless of whether they're in your party or not? So you wouldn't have to level the others up?
I just blitzed through my first play with the shotgun, just insanely powerful. Will play through again with a more biotic-type character.

I know everyone levels up at the same time, I just mostly cba with choosing where to level them up. will basically set it to auto for the other characters to catch up, but I prefer to do it manually so I can try to get the other members of the squad to complement each other better

fair enough.
I really wonder how Mass Effect 2 will deal will the sheer number of decisions you make at the end of 1? There are at least 3 that have huge ramifications for the story.

I mean, they could just go for the kotor2 way and ask questions, but I'm hoping you'll be able to continue a save from ME1.
One of the creators, can't remember who, said something about "make sure you keep your favourite saved game", so it's possible.

what about if you keep more than one? I assume you'd be able to continue separate paragon and renegade saves if you wanted?

I just completed it again for a second time, same character and stats, just wanted to run through it once more before I moved on.
I left Liara to last this time, after all the planets, as I still don't forgive her for running around ignoring my commands. It's quite funny how mad she gets that you left her there so long. A really nice touch, the game is filled with them.

ok quick question, is it easy to tell when you get to the last planet (or space station or whatever) on this? I want to keep the main story ticking over but I want to do a lot of the side missions as well, but obviously want them finished before it's too late

well there's a point where you leave the citadel and can't return to it, near the end. you'll want to finish any side missions before leaving there. because there are some quests, where you have to return to the citadel to finish them.
