Did you listen to the press conference just now?
They dont seem to think its a problem. There talking about doing more focused inspections on certain areas but they dont seem overly concerned about it. You can bet every flight has these gap filler problems, just that they're noticed more now we have video of the shuttles tiles

Only concern is the aerodynamic effect it will have, they could remove it without a problem. Guess they might do wind tunnel tests to check its not an issue
