So here it is,where we can keep up to date with the ffffffb sport that is Boxing.
The next few months is an exciting time for Boxing fans, with the EPIC Corrales/Castillo rematch coming soon plus the Hopkins/Taylor rematch along with other such things as Hattons defence against the worst champion in history Maussa, and Joe Calzaghes no shows for big fights:/
Lets try and keep this as alive as possible and keep all boxing chat in here.
One of the most hotly disputed fights coming up is going to be Frank Warren v Hatton et al. If Franky does manage to stop Hatton fighting Maussa I won't be overly upset, although with Warren and Hatton on the same team we may never get to see Hatton v Mayweather which would be a travesty.
Hasim Rahman has lit the blue-touch paper ahead of the WBC Heavyweight title fight with Vitali Klitschko, labelling the Ukrainian a 'chicken'.
The bout has finally been confirmed for November 12 at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas, after Klitschko twice postponed the date due to a back problem that required surgery.
Rahman launched a pre-meditated attack on his opponent as the American turned up the heat on what is sure to be an explosive contest.
After briefly departing the stage to return as a chef, Rahman delivered his centre-piece:
“I just had some chicken kiev prepared for him, because I am so happy he's not chicken anymore,” said the pretender to the throne.
“We're finally getting in the ring. I'm glad he's all healed up. I just hope and pray he doesn't stub his toe or ***** his finger before November 12th.
“I saw him a week after the alleged injuries and he's walking around like he is today. I have my suspicions. He's in a big-boy game.
“He knows when he fights me, along with the whipping comes a little trash-talking. I know one thing - he won't be faking it November 12th.”
Klitschko refused to enter the pre-fight taunts, which also included a T-shirt worn by Rahman reading 'Down Goes' before revealing a picture of the 6ft 8in Ukrainian on the back.
However, the champion did retort: “You talk about me, I am chicken to fight you. That's not true. I bring you dessert on November 12th.
Both fighters go into the match-up on the back of strong runs, and Rahman did find time amongst his big talk to admit that he needs to be at his best to beat Klitschko.
“He showed tremendous heart in his fight with Lennox Lewis, and he did show desire. He proved he was a champion.
“I feel he can really hurt me if I come with any less than my A-plus game
Heavyweight division basically very poor ATM :thdn:
McBride could be set for title tiltIrishman Kevin McBride believes that he is on the brink of clinching a deal to face WBA heavyweight champion John Ruiz.
McBride shocked the boxing world when he beat Mike Tyson - prompting the former undisputed world champion to retire in June.
Now promoter Don King has made the Clones fighter a concrete offer to face Ruiz.
McBride's advisor Pascal Collins - brother of former WBO super-middleweight champion Steve - has already had talks with promoter King and insists there is a strong possibility the fight will come to Ireland.
"We have the contract from King and all we are waiting on is Ruiz signing up for King," said Collins.
"They are still negotiating but once Ruiz signs up then we'll be sending back the contract for Kevin to fight Ruiz.
"King has already told us and he has put in the contract that the fight will happen either in the last two months of this year or the first two months of next year.
"King has promoted in Ireland before, when he did Ray Close and Chris Eubank and he will go anywhere.
"And I have already spoken to Norman Stone, who is Ruiz's manager and he is happy to come to Ireland.
"The fact is that in business terms it's the best place to have the fight - it would be huge in Ireland.
"Hopefully over the next couple of weeks everything will be signed and sealed and we can try to get it for Ireland."
Not exactly the fight Heavyweight Boxing needs at the minute:thdn:
