Castillo fails to make WBC weight

Mexican Jose Luis Castillo lost the chance to regain his WBC lightweight title after failing to make the weight for his rematch with Diego Corrales.

Castillo was over the 135-pound mark, recording 137 at the initial weigh-in and 138.5 on the second and third.

It is expected that a special weigh-in will be held on Saturday to allow the fight to take place, but it will no longer be classed as a title bout.

Corrales twice came off the canvas to take Castillo's crown in May.

The bizarre weigh-in on the Las Vegas Strip lasted nearly two hours as Castillo tried to sweat off the excess weight.

His personal physician was suspended and fined by the Nevada authorities for allegedly tampering with the scales.

"I apologise to everyone for my fighter," Castillo's manager, Fernando Beltran, said.

Castillo's promoter, Bob Arum, blamed the fighter's doctor, Armando Barak, for interfering with his training programme.

"The doctor came in and fired the trainer two weeks ago," Arum insisted.

"We just found out that he's been without a trainer since then."

Roy Jones Jr was a pale shadow of his former greatness, sad to see the former best pound for pound boxer in the world in that state.

And Roy Jones Jr should retire now,he was desperate,not as bad as his last 2 fights before that (obviously as he didnt wake up with a crowd looking down on him) but he looked terrified to really go for it.And Tarver aint exactly 'special' imo.
