people always peddle the old 'shared ground makes more sense' sh*t. it makes no sense at all. these are two big, successful football clubs with tons of their own identity. oh, and they despise each other too. no sense whatsoever.
| What has despising each other got to do with it? And if they have so much of their own identity and heritage, then that shouldn't really be threatened by the fact that the other team happens to play in the same stadium on alternative weekends. </BLOCKQUOTE>
deluded. so liverpool should get rid of the kop, hillsborough memorial, shankly and paisley gates etc.. just for a bit of economic sense when they have the means to build their own stadium anyway? everton likewise. i'm struggling to believe that you are a football fan. </BLOCKQUOTE>
Err, Liverpool are already planning on building a new stadium. I don't think they were planning on taking the Kop over there, but if they can take the memorial and gates to that one, there's no reason why they couldn't be retained at a shared stadium.
And you can struggle to believe that I'm a football fan if you like, but I'm a football fan whose club spent 97 years playing in the car park of the local cricket club. So I think I have some understanding on where the identity, heritage and spirit of a club reside. </BLOCKQUOTE>
new kop. and everton fans would be happy with a shankly memorial at their ground? give it up.

milan and inter dont despise each other as people seem to think. i'm a milan fan and have been for years, but have often gone to inter games with my mates(who are inter fans obviously) when milan play away, in the curva (with the ultras) and never hand any grief.
on the other hand roma and lazio can hardly stand each other in most cases.

the groundshare element is a coincidence they'd still be just as bad if they had individual stadiums

Yeah, just pointing out that even if Everton and Liverpool fans did despise each other it doesn't mean they can't share a ground.

groundsharing is one of the reasons italian teams often have financial problems, although that may not be applicable in this case, seen as in italy the teams rent the stadium from the commune.
also the san siro pitch often gets into a terrible state because the council wont pay for the a new pitch, even when the clubs offer to refund them the whole sum.
in fact both milan and inter are looking, and have been looking, into getting their own stadiums in the future, although they have been thinking about it for years now and nothing ever seems to come from it. (at one point moratti wanted to create an inter sports village ala basel after inter had played them in the CL).
