deluded. so liverpool should get rid of the kop, hillsborough memorial, shankly and paisley gates etc.. just for a bit of economic sense when they have the means to build their own stadium anyway? everton likewise. i'm struggling to believe that you are a football fan.

of course it does, the stadiums are a massive part of the clubs and totally synomous with the teams. old trafford would invoke totally different ideas if it was shared by man city. every team needs a 'spiritual home' as such and that is their stadium.

in the same way that discounting the only opportunities the two sets of fans come together as collective groups as a good chance to judge their opinions of each other.

Rafalution - I know nobody in Liverpool who despises any rival supporters.
The problem you might be referring to is the younger posters on bluekipper and rawk who threaten eachother but I am sure when they are school in together they don't have an Everton gang and a Liverpool gang and fight it out..
A shared stadium is the ideal solution financially for both clubs but there are two fundamental problems to many people - the colour of the seats and Everton would be seen as the big brother moving into the family home after dropping out of University with his tail between his legs.
The options available to Everton are (in no particular order):
Redevelop Goodison, Kirkby, Aintree, Scotland Road, Cronton, Maghull, Speke and Long Lane
As Benkeat said he can't wait for us to move out of the city.. It can't be good for Everton.
Save by Barry Horne.. it is not the council's fault. It is squarely on the head of the Everton board - both past and present.
Everton never applied for a stadium on Stanley Park if that is what you are alluding to. They applied to fill the some of the lake near the Park End and use it as a keyboard. It was no wonder it was rejected!
The majority of the problems would have been solved if only we had added a second tier to the Park End when it was first constructed (it would have cost 2million at the time). We would not even be thinking about a ground move then.

Could have gone in the Everton thread but wouldn't probably had as many opinions...
Anyway. Here we go again.
Look Goodison is great, i have a lot of fantastic memories from there, but lets face it, if you've ever sat in the Lower Bullens and you've been to a modern stadium recently you know parts of the ground are a shambles.
Now you can bang on about nostalga and the way football is supposed to be watched, but tbh. I'd like to:
a.) See all the action without having to look round a post or wonder where the ball is about to come down from a goal kick.
b.) Be in a seat that isn't so cramped up to the one in front.
c.) Be in a seat. Standing can fook off.
And lets face it, apart from tearing Goodison down (including the listed building) Squatting at Liverpool for a season while they re-build it. It isn't really going to get any better.
Now, Kirkby isn't very far from the site of the current ground. It's not like we're moving to Manchester or Sheffield ffs, most of the argument comes about from people banging on about leaving the city. If there's nowhere to go at the moment (and don't bang on about Scotty Road as the "proposals" for that are diabolical and it WOULD cost a fortune) should we just sit on our hands while our rivals rebuild and reap the benefits as well?
If we did stay at Goodison and the team suffered though lack of investment, the fans that demanded us stay would be the first to point the finger at the board for not doing enough to ensure the long term future of the club.
Lets face it. We need to move. This is as good an option as we're likely to get and whatever the choice you're always going to upset some fans.

ftr, not talking about sets of red and blue gangs walking around the city bashing cars up with liverpool or everton stickers, talking about in footballing terms. at the match, songs about each other etc.. horrible feelings from both sides.

Err, Liverpool are already planning on building a new stadium. I don't think they were planning on taking the Kop over there, but if they can take the memorial and gates to that one, there's no reason why they couldn't be retained at a shared stadium.
And you can struggle to believe that I'm a football fan if you like, but I'm a football fan whose club spent 97 years playing in the car park of the local cricket club. So I think I have some understanding on where the identity, heritage and spirit of a club reside.

| From the reports I have read, the architects want to dismantle the Park End, move it back a couple of feet and add another tier to it and rebuild GP one stand at a time.
