So the Fuji Finepix S9600 is £243 on Ebuyer with free delivery and it's in stock - which isn't the case with every other site I've looked at.

If I get the £10 discount by using Google checkout, it is acutally cheaper than every other site as well

Next question would be... how does Google checkout work? What is it all about?

I'll have to look for you when you are online when my inevitable questions arise when I get the camera.

Do you have any opinions on the spec? Value for money?

Don't worry, I checked this out http://www.ebuyer.com/googlecheckout.

All seems simple and legit.

I've got a panasonic fz5 but the fz7 is more available now. Should fit your price range.

Very nice camera, has 12x optical zoom, 6 Megapixels, antishake which is very useful.

Thanks for the suggestion, but it's not what I'm after. I want a bridge camera.

It's like an SLR but not quite.

Am looking to buy 400d fairly soonish. What are peoples opinions on eBay? I've never used it and don't know what to expect.

Have seen what I want here for about €200 cheaper than anywhere else.

depends on the sort of photos you want to do.
i have 3 or so posted on photo.net ( http://www.photo.net/photos/hangerhead )

also i go onto worth1000 ( http://www.worth1000.com/stories/sta...ay=photography ) often to enter competitions and learn about what others think makes a good (usually unmanipulated) image.

That looks amazing - just the sort of camera I'd love to be using in around 5 years time if I get any good at photography.

I've had problems both buying and selling on ebay recently and would only recommend using it for low priced items. Couldn't flog a laptop without Nigerian bidders trying to con me and was also sent two broken PS2s from a permenantly angry man that would only email me in CAPITALS!!! He evenutally threatened to report me to the police. But, hey, that's just my expeince... maybe I'm just unlucky??
