My finepix decided to give up the ghost, working 1 minute dead the next. currently back at fuji getting repaired.

Seriously tempted to go and get a d40x or the canon 400d, will wait and see what happens after xmas though

My eldest niece wants a digital camera for xmas she is 15 and at the moment I have a shortlist of 2 between these two

http://www.comet.co.uk/cometbrowse/product.do?sku=37694...76949_SONY_DSC_T100S

I can get the above for £180

http://www.currys.co.uk/product.php?sku=768239&source_i...&camp_id=priceru nner

The second camera has mp3 which is a bonus, she wants a slim nice looking camera and mp3 would be a bonus.

You have probably read a post from me on one of the other threads, but I'm doing photography as an A-level, currently in my 2nd year.

I brought the 400D for £500 last christmas which is ideal. Been seeing them for around £400 now. You really dont need anything more then a 400D if its just a hobby.

I currently work as a wedding photography every saturday using my 400D with a Canon EF 28-135mm f3.5-5.6 IS USM lens and speedlite 550EX flash gun.

I would definitely recommend the 400D.
Hope this helps.

All my recent/semi-recent photos are in this gallery. I`d recommend Woofy to anyone who is interested in photography. Its basically an amatuer photographer site that allows you to upload pictures fullsize and people give you feedback about how to improve the picture etc. Its well worth a look.

for anyone who doesn't know much about photography, i think this is quite interesting - http://www.morguefile.com/archive/classroom.php

scroll down to the lessons and have a read. seems a good starting point for those who want to get a bit more into photography

Any Nikonians on here? The new D3/D300 look amazing.
Two D80s and D40 here, as well as a Coolpix 8400 which has been modified to take infrared pictures (that's the ultimate fate of the D40 too). I took some great pictures of elk the last time I was at Rocky Mountain National Park, which was right in the middle of mating season.

I just bought myself a Canon G9 though, so that's taking up all my time. 12.1mp as well as aperture and shutter controls, all in a point and shoot style, which makes it ideal for going to a concert venue like Red Rocks where they let you take small cameras. My other crappy point and shoot let me take about 20 pictures of the Muse concert before it died.

I'm pondering buying the G9 as walk around camera. I messed around with one and it was very impressive. I really like that it can shoot RAW.

Yeah, I spent all yesterday wandering around Pottery Barn and Crate and Barrel using the macro to take interesting pictures of rugs and things.
