Ah, well, that was before I lived here, so I blame myself for taking the "omg the liberal media won't tell you this" rubbish from the article I read it in, and I stand by what I said: only three people dead is equivalent to no loss of life, especially for the gun lobby |

Between that and Easterners trying to close off just about every bit of ground to natural gas drilling, a ban on guns would probably cause the Rockies to secede.

| There's is 0.00001% chance of guns being banned anytime in the next few decades in the US. Don't know why I just said that because I don't know if anyone believes there's a possibility of a ban anyway.
More going to talk about making it a bit harder to pick one up anyway. No more walking into gun shows and picking up an M16?

| I've met even NRA member gun enthusiasts that agree with things like this. They'd be perfectly happy to require that gun owners do things like take a course on gun safety and pass a competence test in order to legally own a gun. Problem is, the NRA doesn't trust anyone from the left to be content with just that, and as long as they think the left is out to ban guns altogether, they're not even going to start down the slippery slope with them. If there was a firm consensus that guns were cool, as long as you wanted to hunt and target shoot with them, you might be able to get the NRA to relax and agree to some compromises. But the left keeps shouting about banning guns period, so there's a lot of mistrust and anger on both sides.
