Current US law is stupid. But then so's the UK's. Spain does it best, I can have a rifle as long as the police have no objection and as long as I pass a medical and a test of competence to handle a firearm.
still a law that allows people to carry killing machines. not great. </BLOCKQUOTE>

Why not? If I wanted to kill a lot of randoms quickly I'd probably ram a coach, derail a train, something like that. I think in the US they choose guns because they see it as cool, and making them pass competence tests and interviews and loads of paperwork sort of puts those types off. </BLOCKQUOTE>

although i believe guns were originally created for fishing? there is no lawfull reason for a gun nowadays.
cars get ou from a to b as well as killing people.
guns do nothign else otehr that have the potential to kill things. unless you use it as a back scratcher.

If his work requires to have one for such uses, then it wouldn't qualify within the terms of general public. I'd say he should only be able to own weapons modified for using tranq darts and they should be locked away when not being used for work.

As for owning them for hunting? I don't see what that has to do with being able to strengthen any argument towards allowing the general public to own weapons.

All his guns are locked in a double-door gun locker when not in use, the law already states they have to be kept like this, iirc. I could be wrong though.

It has to do with strengthening the argument because some members of the general public hunt, for sport.

Not convincing me that that should be allowed to be honest.

The argument isn't whether they are allowed in the eyes of the law, but whether they should be allowed. I don't see why people should be allowed to own a weapon for hunting.

might be a good idea to ban hunting for sport alongside guns while were at it. as ridiculous a concept as owing an automatic killing machine obv.

Because hunting without a weapon isn't hunting, it's just nature spotting.

If you have a problem with hunting, fair enough, but that's a totally different argument.

Also a world of difference between an automatic rifle and a bolt action rifle or shotgun used by most folks for hunting.

not a fan of the whole 'killing things' genre really gav. should probably make an effort to eradicate it.
