Current US law is stupid. But then so's the UK's. Spain does it best, I can have a rifle as long as the police have no objection and as long as I pass a medical and a test of competence to handle a firearm.
still a law that allows people to carry killing machines. not great.

Why not? If I wanted to kill a lot of randoms quickly I'd probably ram a coach, derail a train, something like that. I think in the US they choose guns because they see it as cool, and making them pass competence tests and interviews and loads of paperwork sort of puts those types off.

I do not see why any member of the public in this day and age in the western world should require the use or ownership of a firearm.
I'd say people in Spain with firearms represent a lesser danger than all the deranged ninja wannabes with their samuri swords and shurikens.
And hunting is a valid reason for owning a rifle I reckon. Also defence, there's a lot of Spanish live a long, long way from the nearest police station.

i reckon these dudes just say those things now so that everyone will go hysterical in the press about americas supposed 'fame culture'. probably laughing in his grave.
if i were to go out in style i would definately get dressed up as alan partridge and throw myself off the top of radio norwich. although that might'nt be that high resulting in just a few broken bones. point is, everyone does the mass murder-suicide thing now. time for the yanks to up their game.

Because otherwise the King of England could walk in here and start pushing you around. Do you want that? Huh?

My Dad owns a whole bunch of guns, shotguns and rifles, used for hunting mostly. Two of the rifles fire darts I think, but those are for work. There are legitimate reasons for gun ownership and to tarnish everyone with the same brush is a little short sighted.

Work. I'm sure two of the rifles fire tranq darts. Some of the animals he works with can be dangerous, and slipping a sleeping pill into their food isn't always an option.
