So i have defended them, if people can't take a bit of critcism or have a laugh about their team then tough IMO.

It's a waste of your time though, you've said it all before. You should have just posted a link to any other previous Spurs thread and we could have read all of your arguments there if we wanted too.
But i didn't start the attendance argument or anything between the two clubs after it, i poked fun at Carr supposedly wanting to leave and when someone said 'look at the way he talks before derby games' i mentioned Sol Cambpells words.
I think the ones who started the bigger argument are poosibly Spurs fans themselves, if you look
Reference to Arse beating Spurs 5-0 in the article as well. Those must have been some games but sadly I'm to young to have missed the Spurs win.

I sadly was not too young to miss that match... a freak result of course
I remember the match when we won 5-0 ( Brady's wonder goal was one of them) but even I was too young then!

Spurs have always had 90% crowds- we've had some awful years but for some reason we all still turn up.
I believe Im probably in the best position to say this being a season ticket holder for some 22 yrs now- even when Spurs dropped down to the old 2nd division we sold out most games.
I know comparing 35,000 to 50,000 is a little unfair, but Sunderlands attendances really shocked me as the general impression is that Sunderland fans are flocking to see them.

You have had some awful years??? - you don't know what awful means compared to us, even in your recent bad years you have still had a few players who entertained or you have still scored goals, your board have had ambition compared with ours - and yet you try and compare the loyalty of your fans to ours? - it doesn't add up.

I'm starting to regret backing you up now... and if I'm taking the Spurs fans' side of things then you must be starting to grate a bit!
I think we've all heard enough now ta very much. If you have no sensible comment to make on Spurs then may I suggest you don't say anything at all?

This has all come about because of your involvement in every single Spurs thread there has ever been ever. Not our fault you have the hump with your Spurs supporting friend. Must be getting close to you telling us about Sunderlands record in the 1890's.

quote:
No Wembley ground-share for Spurs
By Mat Fletcher for THEspursweb.com
It appears that the Football Association has laid to rest the rumours that either Spurs or Arsenal would be ground-sharing with the new Wembley Stadium.
Last month, it was claimed in a newspaper report that informal preliminary talks between the two clubs and FA officials had already taken place.
However, Radio Five Live have been told by FA spokesman Nick Baron told BBC that there was no possibility of any team being based at the new Wembley Stadium, which is due to be finished in 2005.
Baron said, "The conditions of the money we receive from Sport England are that we are not allowed to have an anchor tenant.
"Also I don't think that Brent Council would look very favourably on having another 30 major events a year at the stadium.
"So it's not even up for discussion.
"We have not been approached by any football club and it is not something we need for our business plan. "It is a decision for Sport England," he added.
"If Sport England were to change their mind, which they have said they are not interested in doing, then we would have a discussion with them, of course.
"But it is not up for discussion at the moment."
Baron also took the opportunity to answer those critics who had accused the FA of not using the old Wembley enough.
"Wembley got a great amount of use - from speedway and greyhound racing to the FA Cup final," he said.
"But you have got to consider local people."

I'd be up for Spurs and Arsenal sharing a ground if it was for the best interests of both clubs but I'm against them playing in the National stadium so this is good news for me.
Spot on with those comments, I do remember your restraint after that semi-final, but then what fun is banter when the other bloke has absolute FA to retaliate with?
The thing is that in terms of the lack of ability/lack of effort question, the problem is that the line often blurs, especially when you're as inconsistent and schizophrenic a team as we've been over the last few years. And when our board cite the desire to compete with the top clubs as reasoning for substantial price hikes, and then don't invest at anything like the level needed, the disillusionment is compounded by the fact that the love people have for their club is exploited so cynically. I'm sure this has happened at many clubs, and it's unrelated to any point. But I'm a Spurs fan, so I've got to have a moan, haven't I.
And Perry, the Gerry Francis/Christian Gross eras were largely comparable to your current position. As I remember, we were 19th at arond this time of year just after Gross took charge, having lost 6-1 at home to Chelsea, and 4-0 at Coventry in the previous two games. I did say I wasn't going to get into an attendances debate, but IIRC they remained around the mid-30k mark.

I always get upset when I lay the groundwork of banter and the Spurs fan just says "I agree" - very disappointing
Yeah, Spurs have had some hideous bad spells - as a Gooner I remember them well! I mean, at one point there were even Spurs jokes circulating, and in the Newspapers too (this was before the internet)!!!
People seem to forget that Arsenal haven't always been a great side too - my first 17 years as a fan were largely miserable in terms of glory. But fans have the ability to be relative. To us, a victory over Liverpool, Man Utd or Spurs or a cup run meant a successful season - the Championship was out of the question. Its difficult to tell whether fans of 'bigger' clubs still have that attitude. I know my mates who support Saints do - they take as much pleasure from winning big games, and surviving relegation as Arsenal fans do from winning trophies... its all relative. I don't think kids these days understand that - they have to support Man Utd because they win stuff - I don't think its explained that gaining pleasure from football isn't necessarily about that!

Err what??
yes i made some comments and then i took several back (without going into the usual argument), before people started to slate Sunderland fans loyalty and the numbers they were turning out in, thats when i replied. I then only remarked on Spurs fans loyalty under GG and how we were going through a bad time.
I then remarked on how Phillips would be available for much less and by this time people were having a right old go at me and Sunderland and several people actually blamed me for starting the argument, when all i did was rib them about Carr.
It seems no matter what comment i make anywhere near a Spurs thread, most are now ready to jump on that comment - possibly i can understand that after my previous comments in Spurs threads, but surely thats a problem they have with me - i'll say it again look and see how many people brought Sunderland into it or compared Spurs to them before i retaliated.
