I'm off back to my movie for a bit. If we sign anybody, someone give me a call. You have more chance of guessing my number than anything happening though.

Tonight sees the end of the transfer window and endless speculation.
During this transfer period we have successfully secured the signing of Japanese World Cup star Kazuyuki Toda - only the second Japanese player to arrive in the Premiership.

Daniel Levy, Chairman, commented this evening: "Glenn and I have looked seriously at several other players this transfer window and I know the fans would have liked news of an additional signing, but we have not found a player who was right for the Club, both at this point in time and in the longer-term.

"It is a tighter market, with less movement and bigger question marks over the true value of players.

"Come the summer, a huge plus for us will be that we shall have all our options open and a more sensible timescale to work within."

Glenn added: "We were not prepared to rush into a deal that wasn’t right for us and panic buy. Our fans wouldn't thank us for that.

"Let’s remember, we have a strong, deep First team, strengthened further by the arrival of Toda, a healthy Reserves line up and everything to play for.

"I strongly believe that our current squad is capable of giving us a serious chance of getting into Europe and I’m now looking forward to concentrating purely on what happens on the pitch, starting with Chelsea tomorrow.

"Our fans have always shown tremendous support and now is a key time to get behind the team."

Well, seeing as you seem to detest Ricketts, who would provide some pace to your strike force (and who would be a good foil for Keane, I think), I can't really have much sympathy for you.

Any news on the Bolton sites if Ricketts is going anywhere? I'm hoping this last piece of news is a final smokescreen. Though I doubt it is.

No, on the official website, it still says Bolton and Middlesbrough have not agreed a fee for Ricketts - no mention of Spurs at all in the article.

What about the unofficial sites? The Spurs fans are ready to revolt on ours.

Newcastle certainly had the more clear cut chances (again I have to stress that Keller had to make more saves than Given- and the 3 that Given had to make were all bread and butter saves for a keeper) and deserved a draw.

I agree that a draw might have been fair - although if our goal had been allowed to stand who knows how we'd've played with Newcastle forced to chase the game.

But I have to disagree about the saves - Given's save from Poyet's chip-shot thing after the keeper had pinged the ball off someone's head looked fing excellent from where I was sat.

------

On the signing front I have to say I am puzzled. I would have thought buying Ricketts or Christie even if we were not sure about them would have been sensible given the lack of striking options.

I can see how if the next TV deal is not so great then it will look sensible to have avoided overspending but with European qualification still very much possible and with a clear need for someone else up front I think there was little sense in caution.

I'm trying to keep positive 'cos otherwise this would be a very shyte day for me so here goes . . . maybe this will encourage the players we have to make more of an effort - it shows a degree of trust in them and they might feel moved to repay that trust with good football.

Oh, I can't manage it.

This had better be a last minute bluff to force someone's hand or I am well pished off with the board.

well, keeping the players we have is better than giving them away to bolton for that sac of shÃ*te.

Except in the all-important area of attack, or isn't that obvious enough already Sigh...

I'll be more than happy if Teddy, Iversen and even Doc (not holding my breath there) can do the job but it'll be on Keano's shoulders for the rest of the season. Hope the lads put in one hell of a performance this weekend and stop Chelsea from ripping us a new one.
