quote:
TOTTENHAM are poised to sign a new striker before Friday's transfer window deadline.
Glenn Hoddle has confirmed he is ready to bring one of three targets to White Hart Lane to boost his attack.
Spurs need reinforcements after Les Ferdinand's move to Premiership strugglers West Ham and Sergei Rebrov's loan move to Fenerbahce.
Hoddle is still linked with Real Madrid marksman Fernando Morientes, who has already turned down a loan move to N17, while Derby's Malcolm Christie could be another target.
He is wanted by Middlesbrough and they are today reported to be preparing a £3million nid for Bolton's transfer-listed forward Michael Ricketts - who has openly declared his interest in a move to Spurs

Am i the only person who thought we should have won last night. Gardner and Richards were excellent, and stopped Shearer and Bellamy having any real impact on the game.
IMO we were mugged by Elleray and the linesmen. I haven't seen the video replays but i thought that Poyet was easily onside when he had a goal disallowed, and at one point Doherty was clean through on goal, only to be called back for a foul on fat-boy Bernerd. Correct me if i'm wrong but i didn't see anything wrong with his challenge. Then there was the situation when the ref didn't play the advantege when Poyet was one-on-one with Given and gave us the foul instead.
The crowd chanted Freund's name from time to time, and i think we needed him. Davies, Anderton and Poyet didn't make more than 2 challenges between them all game. The only one tackling in the midfield was Bunjy, who played well. i was devastated when Newcastle scored because there was no way on earth that they deserved one point let alone three.
I think we deserved at least a point, Poyet was onside when he scored, i have seen the replay. That could of changed the game, the first goal being crucial. As for Freund i think it is a mistake to let him go at the end of the season, maybe a one year contract would be better, would be a useful squad player if nothing else. Also what was hoddle thinking by selling 2 strikers and not having a replacement ready. If Keane is out for a long time then we have a big problem, Doherty tries hard but to be fair is pretty crap. Where was Iversen last nite as well?
Today is the last day of the transfer window and i can't believe we haven't bought a striker. this leaves us with Keane(anyone know how badly injured he is?) Sheringham, Iversen and Doherty(who's a better defender). If Keane is out for a while we're fúcked. if Teddy's injured it's not too bad cos he's not on form. But we have one decent striker at the club, and for me, that's worrying.
