I have as well but I'm presuming that's to announce the Toda signing since his medical is over the weekend.

But the second-hand market is where everyone has to buy. Duh.
Toda will make Spurs money, that's good enough for me.

My bad, I shouldn't have reacted that way. Completely ignoring that post was probably the thing I should have done.
To get this thread back on track, does anyone think we'll ever find out from Hods exactly why he never rated Sergei?

Well given Hod's book writing propensities and lack of tact we'll probably hear something sometime but I doubt we will ever get the full story.
Maybe Glenn has something against radio hams.
It really is the most frustrating thing.

what hoddle consulted mystic meg on the toda signing, there are much better players than toda on the market, how you think you are going to make money on toda baffles me,spurs have made a big loss on the rebrov saga.
only unambitious clubs shop in the second hand market.
you only have to look at the average europeon club signing-they buy players with real talent, players that are going to be top talents not some second rate player who is going to take at least 2yrs to adapt if ever he adapts.

Man U signing Forlan, who then wasn't even an international, would suggest otherwise. They will make the money back on shirtsales alone too.

You criticise Spurs for being unambitious in signing Toda, but what, in your opinion, should the club do? Yes, there are certainly midfielders out there who are more of a "sure thing", players like Pirlo and Van Bommel, but it is only realistic of the club to assume that (1) the clubs probably won't sell and if they did, it would cost a hell of a lot of money and (2) the players would ask for astronomical wages.
Sure, it would be great if Spurs, like the Man Utd that you support, could afford to splash 20 million pounds on obvious "top talents" but I'm also grounded in reality enough to know that we can't do so at the risk of putting the club's longer term future and financial standing at risk.
BTW, I still don't understand what you mean by your statement that "only unambitious clubs shop in the second hand market." Like what Jolyon said, isn't the entire transfer market a second hand one?
