Ive honestly never thought Highbury had a bad atmosphere- yeah for some "guaranteed 3 pointers" but against us and when Ive seen you play Liverpool and Arsenal its sounded loud enough.
Maybe its to do with Accoustics- we have an enclosed bowl so sound will be contained- but Highbury is open so it might "lose" sound?
Id also be surprised if Tourists could get tickets- after all you like us have loads of season ticket holders and members, so it'd be a tiny percentage of day trippers who get in.
I must admit though I tend to be less animated since seating was brought in- I now tend to quite calmly compliment the team on a good pass etc, only really going mad if its a piece of goalmouth action or a bad foul. Maybe watching live games is now too much like watching on TV.

Your point about acoustics is a good one, and one I realised even when the North Bank was terraced - the four corners are completely open.
Tourists: well, the games I've been to in the last couple of seasons have suggested to me that they are getting tickets. The people sitting around me on the North Bank have clearly not been Arsenal fans. I could be wrong - perhaps they are Nu-Gooners?
I think everyone will agree with your seating comment. I remember ending up a good 20 foot away from where I started after a goal in the old terraced North Bank on a number of occasions!
I'm not as animated either - I must irritate people though because I've got the habit of discussing the match with whoever I'm with in the minutest detail instead!

I apologise to amyone who has to sit near me!
