I'm not sure the Morientes thing is completely dead yet - nor Ricketts.
It is aleged that Spurs are being tentative about moves until they can offload players and at the same time not wanting to release a striker (Rebrov, Ferdinand) until they are sure of signing a replacement.
All a bit catch 22 and hopefully they'll bite the bullet and let both go and make an effort to sign one of the targets - I wouldn;t be that upset if they had to play a reserve striker anyway, it's been a season for teen sensations and it'd be great to have one of our own.
Anyway Keane, Sheringham, Iversen and Doc provide good enough striking options without Ferdinand and Rebrov and I bet Davies could do the job - he seems to be able to play anywhere.

I dont thin Doc should play striker i just dont think he is good enough as a striker. I do think we should igve sonmeone like Steven Ferguson or Lee Bernard a go as a striker

the difference between Ziege and Etherington in that left wing back role is that Ethers hugs the touchline, is almost always available for a pass out to the wing. if he could sort his crossing out hten we would have so many more goal scoring opportunities to squander.
Zeige cuts infield to often and occasionaly swaps sides with Carr which is useless as both are pretty one-footed.
Up front we need someone who can score goals, a big target man. at the moment Teddy drops deep where he is best, and Keano goes out wide on the left so we have no-one inthe middle unless Poyet is on the pitch. iversen could do this, and showed signs of being a good player again against Charlton, but to play Iversen i think that Teddy should play as well, just behindnthe front two.
Personally the captian should be Freund as he is sometimeqs the only player who tries (apart from Keano). King and Gardner will go on to become regular England squad members.
a lot of my mates who are spurs fans go on about some young guy called Jamie Slabber. is he any good? Does anybody know anything about him?

Jamie Slabber is in our under 17 or under 18 i think, he has scored a bucket full of goals though. Scored more goals than games played last season i heard. Think it might be a bit too early for him. Im a bit annoyed we let Yannick Kamanan go, he could of come in and been given a shot now, was playing well for the reserves before he was transferred.

Slabber is brilliant.
Kamman im not sure about he didnt have that ghreat a record in reserves but seeing who PSurs have let go in the past he will probaly be very good. Also what about Dean Marney i think he is a striker he is meant to be pretty good but i still think Ferguson or Johnnie Jackson should be given a chance along with Blondel.
I also belive the Iversen Keane partnership could be brilliant if given a chance. A younger Teddy would be good right about now. Remember in the good old days Anderton would cross them in and Teddy would bury them. BUt Teddy doesnt get into those positions anymore

Whats wrong woth the tactics hoddle is using. He cant play 352 anhmore as we dont have a left wing back. 442 is the only one to use. Davies wouldnt be unhappy he has been starting in the midfield every game so far. If you look at the what we done against Everton then we played 442 but we didnt have a set midfield. The commentator said that Anderotn would be playing on the right but he was drifting in wards. The only player with a set position in the midfield was Bunje in the holding role. The other three were allowed to drift which was a good thing as daives could move more. How could gardner be unhappy at the tactics if he has only just returned

quote:
Nice to have a few people singing "theres only one sergei rebrov" though and then cheering when Iversen went off- Hoddle can you hear us?

Well, it was the only thing you did sing.
As a Gooner, I'm the first to admit that Highbury is quieter these days (corporates, tourist fans etc) - and I can take the criticism from supporters of lots of clubs. But, I find it immensely cheeky from Spurs fans when you really are as bad, if not worse than us. It was like a graveyard yesterday, and the match v WBA too!! You cheeky feckers!
As for the match. I think Everton can feel as agrieved as WBA for losing that match. Good game though...

GG - I think u will find we started 5-3-2 and played that first half then it was switched to 4-4-2, Davies went on the right, Anderton, Bunje in the middle, and Poyet on the left/wherever he wanted to go! Keane and Inverson upfront. Then we went to like 4-4-1-1/5-4-1 in the end when Acimovic was brought on.

Fair enough GG - but I think our reputation is a bit OTT. I don't think we are any worse than most places.
Our success is our downfall - everyone wants to watch us now, and tourist fans are prepared to pay top dollar for a 'one-off'. These fans aren't going to make much noise are they?
Anyway, rather grudgingly I agree with everything you said!! |
