No, although he has been far more impressive this season, Deano isn't international class by any means.
And yeah, 442 is the way to go, but I think Milo should be given an extended run, even if it's on the left side. I think Ethers is a never-will-be and if/when Ziege returns I reckon he'd prefer to play as a left sided midfielder than a wing-back.

quote:
HODDLE'S READY TO GET MOR
By John Cross
TOTTENHAM boss Glenn Hoddle was last night on the verge of pulling off an amazing transfer coup after being offered Real Madrid superstar Fernando Morientes on loan until the end of the season.
Spanish World Cup striker Morientes, 26, had agreed to join Tottenham if they can match his £40,000-a-week wage demands and Hoddle has been given the go-ahead as long as he trims the club's current wage bill.
Morientes came desperately close to joining Tottenham last summer, but the deal fell through because Real Madrid would not accept their attempts to sign him on the "never never" and spread his £12m fee over the five years of his contract.
But Real Madrid are still willing to off-load Morientes and Tottenham will also be given the chance to sign him on a permanent basis at the end of the season.
Hoddle is desperate to improve his strike force and although he has made enquiries about Bolton's Michael Ricketts, Morientes is his overwhelming first choice.
Tottenham have off-loaded Steve Clemence to Birmingham, German club Eintracht Frankfurt are keen to take Sergei Rebrov on loan and West Ham and West Brom are keen on Les Ferdinand.
If Hoddle can off-load Ferdinand and Rebrov, who are both on £30,000-a- week, then he can pull off the amazing coup of signing Morientes within the next 48 hours which would revive Tottenham's flagging season.

quote:
HODDLE'S READY TO GET LIL
By John Cross
TOTTENHAM boss Glenn Hoddle was last night on the verge of pulling off an quite average transfer coup after being offered Sunderlands reject Lilian Laslandes on loan until the end of the season.
Former French striker Laslandes, 31, has agreed to join Tottenham if they can match his £16,000-a-week wage demands and Hoddle has been given the go-ahead as long as he trims the club's current wage bill.
Laslandes came desperately close to quitting football last summer, but then decided to play on when Bastia took him on-loan from Sunderland as he needed the money to pay his drink driving fine off.
Sunderland however are still willing to off-load Laslandes and Tottenham will be given the chance to sign him on a permanent basis at the end of the season.
Hoddle is desperate to improve his strike force and although he has made enquiries about Bolton's Michael Ricketts, Laslandes is about 92nd on his list as the first 85 choice's aren't ever going realistically going to sign for a club like Spurs.
Tottenham have off-loaded Steve Clemence to Birmingham, German club Eintracht Frankfurt are keen to take Sergei Rebrov on loan and West Ham and West Brom are keen on Les Ferdinand.
If Hoddle can off-load Ferdinand and Rebrov, who are both on £30,000-a- week, then he can pull off the amazing coup of signing Laslandes within the next 48 hours which would revive Tottenham's flagging season.

quote:
Tottenham Hotspur are working hard to bring in one or two new players during January's transfer window to bolster their flagging season.
After being knocked out of both domestic cups and slipping down the premier league, manager Glenn Hoddle said he was targeting a striker and possibly one other player.
"There's a lot of names been mentioned and from the start of this season we've been mentioned with a lot of players. There's a lot of speculation but we just deal in the facts and we're working with the facts behind the scenes," Hoddle told reporters at the club's training ground on Thursday.
Bolton Wanderers boss Sam Allardyce said he had rejected an approach from Spurs for forward Michael Ricketts.
Tottenham have also been linked in the media with a renewed bid for Real Madrid's out-of-favour striker Fernando Morientes, who they tried to sign during the close season.
While Hoddle declined to discuss individual targets, he added: "We're trying to see what we can do but it's not easy out there at the moment and I think as we've said before the game is changing, particularly at the financial level.
"Every club is finding it hard to do the loan deals and the swap deals and the buying. It's not as easy as people think.
TRYING HARD
"We're certainly trying hard, the chairman (Daniel Levy) and myself are working exceedingly hard on that side of things as most of the managers and chairmen will be at this point in time.
"You can only work as hard as you can. It does make it more difficult but we're working behind the scenes to try to get somebody in or maybe a couple depending on what we can go out.
"The wage structures have to be looked at and every club is looking to do these types of things now."
Asked whether he wanted to bring in a striker, Hoddle said: "We've gone on record as saying we're looking at that area and we're looking at other areas to strengthen as well if it's possible and available.
Spurs were dumped out of the FA Cup at the third-round stage after a 4-0 mauling by Southampton last week and lost 2-1 at first division Burnley in the League Cup in November.
They have also suffered defeat in their last two premier league matches and are now ninth in the standings.
DAVIES BID
Out-of-favour Ukraine striker Serhiy Rebrov, who joined for a club record 11 million pounds ($17.67 million) in May 2000, has been linked with a move to Turkish side Fenerbahce.
Midfielder Tim Sherwood and striker Les Ferdinand have attracted interest from Portsmouth and Wolverhampton Wanderers respectively, while midfielder Stephen Clemence is set to join premier league Birmingham City subject to a medical.
The London Evening Standard also reported on Thursday that Manchester United are preparing an eight million pound ($12.85 million) bid for Tottenham's 23-year-old Welsh international winger Simon Davies, which they will table next week.
But Hoddle said: "Until we get contacts from clubs or until we contact the clubs, that's how the real business is done, there's a lot of media speculation... but there's not as many things happening out there as people think."

there's a story from Reuters. i would rather we left the transfer market if meant we kept davies tbh.

In the current market we'd get Ricketts for £3mil, I reckon (yeah like I know **** but hey).
He'd be a good buy, I reckon.
It's been reported that we want Bent from Ipswich but their asking price is (deliberately) too high - again £3million is the quoted figure. Less sure about this one.
Offloading Rebrov (if he's not going ot get a game) and Ferdinand would be really good news and if Sherwood wanted to go too that'd be great.
I think we should be looking at raiding Derby while there's bargains to be had - Higginbotham, Riggott and Christie are all players that would be worth adding to the squad if less useful and higher paid members could be sent packing.
But Morientes is the big rumour. I really don't know how good he is or how much he'd care about playing for us but it'd be exciting - the one transfer we're linked with that carries any real buzz. Of course last time this happened it was Rebrov but they won't all work out that bad.
Surely?
I don't think Etherington is a never-will-be - I reckon he's an almost is. He was very exciting to watch at the start of the season there was a genuine sense that something might happen whenever he got the ball, just like there is with Keano and if we had those two and Davies playing it'd be a young, exciting attack that'd surely please the crowds. Add on someone who can kick a ball into a net and we might even win matches on a consistent basis.
Talking (writing?) of Davies I think we'd be mad to sell him but if we could get a huge amount of money (£15mil or so) in this depressed market then it might be the best thing for the club, providing the funds were all reinvested and reinvested well. I think if it came down to it I'd rather lose him than Carr, although ideally I'd want them both playing - they seem to work well together.
Argh. It's all so tense at the moment - it's such an open league this season that this transfer window seems like a key time in the fortunes of the club.
