People slagged off Sherwood for what he said to the press but he is exactly the kind of player Spurs need when they are going through bad spells. He is a spurs fan and the comments he made to the media were him spaking as a Spurs Fan not a Spurs Player. Sherwood and Freund are exactly the same players except Sherwood can find the back of the net on occasions. Look at the dodgy form Spurs were on when they beat Chelsea in the Worthington Cup last year, Sherwood scored and put in a blinding performance in that match and I wouldn't mind seeing him and Freund rotated. That's the one thing I don't like about Glenn Hoddle the way he doesn't give players a chance. Rebrov has never been given a long run in the first team under Hoddle, the same as Blondel who may be young but he could be the player bought in when Teddy needs resting. Redknapp and Sherwood would be a good centre midfield pairing IMO. They both have grit and determination, Redknapp can create and score goals while Sherwood could either play in the centre midfield or when we are holding on for a lead could sit in front of the back four. If Freund could sortout the timing of his challenges we could also rely on him to do this more often I know it's good to have him shaking up our opponents but in big games he can't afford to keep rushing in with rash challenges as this could backfire. I for one and hoping we sign Lee Bowyer then we can drop Freund and Sherwood.
Sherwood was never a Spurs fan. He was a childhood gooner who idolised george Graham. He made those comments to curry favour with fans stupid enough to believe he's anything other than a fat, paceless, lazy, square-ball merchant with the knack of giving the ball away every time he doesn't have twenty minutes to think about it. He is absolute garbage and to compare him even to such a limited player as Freund is absurd! I sat through his woeful performances for two years, and one good goal in a fantastic team performance doesn't come near to compensating for it. If he gets anywhere near our first team again, my moderate doubts about Hoddle are going to become great big beachball-sized ones!
Nobodys mentioned Defoe, am I the only one who feels he and Keane are made for each other? A little light weight as a partnership, perhaps, but while Keane makes his runs down the channels Defoe can sit in the box and poach the chances he creates ala Davies against Man City. Takes the pressure off Keane and the mid fielders to get the goals and I feel the light weight factor will more then be compensated for by their mobility and intelligent running. If you ask me, Keanes signing should have been as a replacement, not partner, for Sherringham. Keanes not, nor never was, a goal scorer, his game is based around running at people and, like Sherringham, setting up others, getting a good but not absolute top goal talley. If you ask me he and Defoe are made for each other. He lives in London, I presume, and the Hammers look like they will go down and are in financial trouble so you wont have to break the bank for him. If not Defoe, maybe Jeffers, but I don't know if fans could accept him, however he also is made for Keane imo.
I agree we need someone that can do what Lineker did and poach goals. think if hoddle wants one of the forwards to be dropping back then it should be keane. Sheringham and Keane i thoguht at first would be a good partnership but right now Robbie needs a someone else. Maybe play Iversen upfront for a while and havde Keane in behind him. Also We need a striekr who is good with his head. Sherigham was good but doesnt get into the position as much. Ferdinand could do it but no. Iversen is good in the air and that why him and KEane should play upfront with Keane dropping a little deeper

I agree, it's Keanes natural game to drop deep and Iverson is the best Spurs have as a partner but the problem with him is figuring out which Iverson is going to show up on the day.
I was jsut thinking another partnership culd be Keane and Ferdinand with ferdinand being a target man and keane playing behind him running of him with his pace and dribbling skills
so saints 4-0
this game highlighted exactly why poyet and sheringham have no part to play in spurs' present or future.
hoddle seems to have the houllier disease of refusing to change his mind seemingly out of reluctance to admit he was wrong ratehr than because of any footballing reason.
and also a big reason for today's failure was the left side of the pitch. taricco is not an adequate replacement for ziege, and we need to get a good left-back on loan inside the window. apparently we're interested in paul robinson of watford, but we'd have to buy him not loan, since he's a first-teamer there.
but today was awful, though hopefully hoddle will hav noted that the majority of the team's shortfalls were highlighted in spangly gold lights
grrr
I think that central mid field is a bit weak, teams can pass right through it espically if Freund isn't playing well, I reckon Spurs need someone in there more then a striker. Etherington should be given more of a chance and Davies best position is a right winger, him and Carr on one side is a scary proposition, with both wingers and full backs going forward as an attacking force Spurs would be scary, need a real box to box Keane style mid fielder though., easier said then done obviously. I'm not sure what centre backs Spurs fans prefer so I put King and Richards in but that was a pretty random guess. Just imo, but if Spurs play that they only need two players (A mid field general and a goal poacher) to be a really complete side, easier said then done though obviously.
Saw this posted at a Spurs site and thought it quite apt for tonight.

Just as you think you're on easy street you tread in a cowpat, get stung by a hornet and it starts raining. Oh and you run out of petrol on the way home. The only positive is that having been SOOO bad, we have got to be better next week!
