I THINK it was a Spurs quote by Bill Nick but im not 100% sure- as it could be any of the great managers.

That's a good point. I've said similar things myself. If you think back to your favourite experiences as a fan... they've often been preceeded by despair, pain or an expectation of failure.
Arsenal 1-0 v Liverpool but still to lose the Championship - up pops Mickey Thomas.
Man Utd getting a pasting from Bayern Munich - up pop Sheringham and Solksjaer.
Liverpool getting a hiding from Arsenal in the cup - up pops Michael Owen.
All of those were moments that turned despair into extreme pleasure... and its the best feeling in the world.
I'd like to see Spurs go for an ESTABLISHED striker. Robbie Keane was without a doubt our best signing for a long time, but he isn't a "poacher" IMHO Spurs need either Robbie Fowler or Kevin Phillips. This talk about Mark Viduka if Spurs ever signed him i'd slit my wrist. The bloke is built like a brickhouse, he must be about 6'2. But he is a bottler. When the fans are on his back his head drops, when his team are going through a bad patch he lets his head drop and he disappears as we saw earlier this season. His performance against the Blues on New Years Day wasn't to bad but I never have and can safely say Never will rate him as a top striker.

And Perry, the Gerry Francis/Christian Gross eras were largely comparable to your current position. As I remember, we were 19th at arond this time of year just after Gross took charge, having lost 6-1 at home to Chelsea, and 4-0 at Coventry in the previous two games. I did say I wasn't going to get into an attendances debate, but IIRC they remained around the mid-30k mark.

Hmm i really want this to be my last post in here, but i don't see how you can compare that to our situation now. As in the last 40 odd years we have had two top half finishes and yet in the years you mentioned i'm sure you actually done well in the cups and still had some good/flair players and played some decent football.
The point is that you draw in fans when your succesful and when you win things, play good football etc and yet we haven't really done any for years - even the Worthington Cup to us would be a godsend - fifteen years ago we had a season in the old Third division, eight years ago we were battling to escape relegation from Div one, six years ago we were relegated from the Premiership - your bad times don't even compare and even so your still guessing that your attendances would be much higher if you had a bigger stadium.
Having just checked your attendances last season out of curiosity, i noticed that the Southampton, Charlton, Derby and Bolton home league games were all well below capacity once dropping below 30,000 - i don't really think you have any right to criticise us.
As i said i want to make this my last post in here and let it get back on track to what Nick actually wanted.

Three years ago they nearly signed him

Spurs nearly signed alot of players or let them go. I mena Beckhan was in the academy. Redknapp was in the academy. No look at them both. Also we had Quinton Fortune and Ronny Johnsen a one stage.
We nearly signed Viduka a few years ago and we could have signed Robbie kenae even earlier. Dyer was another one and so was Saviola and now they re both superstars
What do you think of Simon Davies as a striker. He can finish a ball we've seen that this year and he seems to get loads of chances from midfield maybe he will get mroe chances upfront as a striker
Do you honestly think Spurs will make any signings.
Do you think Hoddle will start to give some of the youngsters such as Blondel and Ricketts a chance in the first team.
