actually heres just the place to ask you folks this question, now we are heading over to england for our usual new years trip, do it every year, last year we went to newcastle, went to the man u game new years day, it didnt end till 8 or so, and we were still able to make out 10:30 flight back to dublin.
so this year, we're thinking of going to leeds for new years eve, and see leeds are playing oldham, so we're prob gonna go to the game.
so what i wanted to know, how long would it take you on average, to get back from elland road to the city centre and then to the airport?
flight would be about 10:30 or so i think, so we'd need to be at the airport for about 8:30-9.
my mate said that we could dump our bags in her dads car as he works at elland road.
just it would be good to take a game in seeing as we'd be hanging about leeds all afternoon.
| New Years Day games are quite annoying here as there's no buses running at all. Trains still run though, so you'd have to walk from Leeds City station to the ground. It takes around 20 mins if you take my route, longer if you follow the other fans.
I'm not sure if the airport bus runs on New Years Day. If it does I'd imagine they only run once an hour. It stops right outside the main entrance to Leeds City Station anyway, and the trip shouldn't take too long - about 30 mins. Failing that, I'd recommend getting a train to either Horsforth or Guiseley and getting a taxi from there (each a couple of miles away from the airport) - I dread to think how much a taxi from town would cost that day.
You should get back to the City Centre after the game for about 5.30 if you have to collect your bags at FT. There will be no problems getting to the airport for 8.30 - I bet you could get there for 6.30-7 if you go straight there.
