Right, I don't know exactly what I need here, apart from I need an antenna for 1 of my wireless network cards in 1 of my desktops.
The signal it gets is either non existence or very little, and I could do with an exapanded antenna on it so I can the antenna on the desk/wall, rather than have it under the desk where the connection is really poor.
My card is a belkin, as is my router. So would this affect me being able to buy a different brand antenna? I have looked on ebuyer but just want confirmation really of what is the best thing to be buying in this situation.

Right i've had a read of some reviews and the general consencus is that the Linksys WRT54G is a decent router. Read some of the reviews on ebuyer here.
There are a few issues with it but they seem to get fixed with the latest firmware. Note that if you decide to get this router then be very sure to check what version it is before upgrading to the latest firmware (if not already included with router). I believe the latest version is version 5 but that may not be available in the UK. Having looked at the Linksys website and checked what the latest firmware they had there, it was version 4.00.7 for the WRT54G V2. Netgear WGR614 54G

The reviews i've read on this router indicates that it is also a decent router. Read some reviews here.
Note that there are different versions of this router, so if getting this one make sure to check which version it is 1st before checking for latest firmware. Router product page and Netgear support page for this router.

| Yeh they should be i haven't bought from them before though.
The Linksys WRT54G is out of stock on ebuyer i believe. You could have a look at overclockers.co.uk, they are generally reliable, ordered from them a few times.
As for the Netgear WGR614 54G you could buy it from ebuyer if you like. ebuyer are generally reliable, i've ordered from them a few times.
It's all about shopping around to find the best prices.

I'm going with the first one.
Right, just let me get it straight, I bung the cable from my modem into the Router and then let my Laptop pick up the signal and bobs your uncle?

| In a word, yes (after some configuration with router and your lappy).
