Id go with a linksys router if I was you. Linksys have been taken over by Cisco, and as such their kit is very good.

The router is fine, you dont need to go with linksys for the cards, and I certainly would advise against usb cards.
| 2. Quote: |
That linksys pci card is fine, its often best to get the same manufacturer of cards and router.
| 3.
Netgear are another good make (along with D-Link) Quote: |
You need at least 1 router and as many pci cards as you have pcs which dont already have one.
| 4. Quote: |
No, that code is just an indentifier for the manufacturer.
| 5. 6. Quote: |
No you cant, you can only have 1 adsl modem on a line at any one time.

A little hint, I would trust AOL's recommendations about as much as I'd trust Goddard to tell a true story
ffs
You had a decent router with the linksys.
That or DLink or netgear.
I personally use Draytek Vigor, but thats a bit more expensive
| 9. Quote:
No, Im just pointing out. Draytek gear is more advanced, VoIP, VPN specialists et cetera.
Linksys/Cisco are my 2nd fave for home networks.
| 10. Quote: |
very little, its now cisco owned
| 11. Quote:
I get and configure £3,000+ Cisco routers, and they have a end of service life of 2 years.
Consider yourself lucky
| 12. Quote: |
The difference is how good they are in terms of compatability. They will all "offer" any adsl speeds that a provider will offer. The difference is to how stable their network will be
| 13. Quote:
DSL is the same as adsl etc.
Good makes of router are
Dlink
3Com
Netgear
Cisco
Linksys
Draytek
Belkin stuff is good as well.
| 14.
So yeh, bloody arse indeed.
You.

| Its £40, £60 at the upper limit. The fact you have numerous pc's to connect means that £40 isnt exactly an issue.

You have "several pcs" needing to connect wirelessy to a router.
You cant afford £100-£150 for this solution then youre all out of luck.

So yeh, Los and myself and others have given you information and links, either take on of them up or deal with a non wireless connection, because you get what you pay for with wifi.
You dont want to pay for the good stuff, then ok, but expect issues and not many responses to please for help on non industry standard hardware.
The routers youve highlighted, in cases, dont even adhere to 802.11b/g standard ffs :/

| Because Los, other people and myself who fit and configure £2,000+ (at a bare minimum, Ive implemented a £190,000 network wifi before) are giving you, for free, our recommendations and often hard fought experience.
So either accept this and spend the money on what we recommend or buy some cheap **** for £50 less and pay someone £70/hour to fix it.
