Rep Power: 0 | Quote: KEWELL RELISHING STRIKER ROLE
Paul Eaton 19 June 2007
Harry Kewell has giving his backing to Australia's plans to use him as a central striker during next month's Asian Cup.
Coach Graham Arnold last week made public his idea of using Kewell just behind Mark Viduka in the Aussies' attacking line, and the Liverpool midfielder is relishing the prospect of providing the firepower to shoot his country to glory.
"It's one of my favourite positions, I won't deny that, and I'm quite sure a lot of players love that position because it's a main position," he said.
"He's (Arnold) said that's obviously a formation that we can play. A lot of managers say that about a lot of teams and a lot of players.
"Once we know our opponents, once we sit down and we study them a little bit more we'll know the formations to play and if I am to play up front or behind or left side that's fantastic, I mean I just want to be playing."
Despite missing most of last season through injury, Kewell insists he is now one hundred per cent fit and ready for the competition, which begins for Australia against Oman on July 8.
"I'm one hundred per cent fit now, I've taken 11 months off to recoup with all my injuries - but I'm fully fit now and I'm raring to go.
"I can't wait. It's been a long time since the last game which was against Croatia.
"I'm really looking forward to meeting up with the boys and getting this tournament off to a good start."
| Great! That'll be an excuse for Rafa not to bother with signing a new striker. That and the arrival of the world's greatest striker *snigger* Andriy Voronin.

| His goalscoring records so far are crap so I haven't got much hope for him to be honest.
Sean Dundee/Eric Meijer anyone?

Reading through that original post on RAWK about the 11mill mystery guy, it says he is currently on holiday. That would rule Bent out, and anyone in the Spanish league and anyone at the u21 championships.
Could be Biscan returning ??

Didn't Bent come back off holiday to speak to West Ham? He may have returned.
