It was
much better than I expected…
As with anything connected to SWR there was a shambolic element to it…forgetting the lyrics to Kinky Afro, guitar too high in the mix, a bit all over the place for a couple of songs, but generally it was very good.
As is the trend for bands doing these sort of things some of the songs had been extended and re-worked slightly. Longer intros etc….but it generally worked OK – the core remained the same. I pretty certain the majority of the Pills n Thrills songs they played were based on the perfecto remixes rather than the originals.
But generally Ryder seemed interested and fairly cogent. Looked to have lost a little weight too. Played a couple of new songs, including the single – which sounded a lot better live. Rumours are that they’re in the studio. From the sound of last night it’ll be a little bit more than a tax payment scheme hopefully.
Stomping encore of 24 hrs party people rounded it off nicely.
