The bloke is a bit of a plank but I think the crowd were being a bit out of order with their abuse! Does my head in when people really get on the back of whoevers on stage. There was this fella unleashing an absolute verbal mauling at the Bassist of Fay Raise completely unnecessarily, real verbal tirade. It really gets on my nerves

You done it have you?
I reckon if Brum books a massively good act that noone else wants to see then it could tempt me into gigging alone. |

Yea man done it a few times, can be top notch! It's pointless going with people sometimes anyway cause there's no way you stay together in the general crush!
You've got to get down to the old smoke to come to some gigs with myself! Especially as you can get dirt cheap train tickets, seems silly to miss out on acts for the sake of going alone when you can get down here easy as you like

In the past month I'v seen Art Brut, The Go! Team, Brakes, The Fall and 65Daysofstatic. Best were probably the Go! Team, they were great fun (as were Art Brut), but seeing the Fall was quite an experience too. The Glasgow crowd was absolutely mental, people kept jumping on stage, dancing about and fiddling about with the equipment (and band!). MES slapping hands away from the keyboard was hilarious as were the ancient security gaurds trying to cope with the crowd Really awesome gig though, the band seemed to enjoy the crowd's energy and were on top form.
Anyway I just booked tickets to see Mogwai next month, very excited since they're one of my favourite bands ever and I know how wonderful they are live. Kind of makes up for Sleater-Kinney cancelling their November tour I've also got Polysics, Sigur Ros, Melt Bananna, The Decemberists and Help She Can't Swim coming up with the possibility of a few others. November is going to rock | Where did you see 65 DoS and where are Help She Can't Swim playing mate? Love both those bands </BLOCKQUOTE>
They both were/are at the Glasgow Barfly. 65Dos were suppoerted by Youthmovie Soundtrack Straegies which made that gig doubly awesome. Help She Can't Swim are on the 17th of November IIRC, seen them once before and they were pretty cool so it should be good to see them again in a more decent venue(well it's the same one really, but downstairs on the proper stage as opposed to upstairs this time) Quote: |

| That really annoys me too, I saw this guy Chris TT supporting the Brakes and there were these drunk arseholes in the crowd who really got on his case, booing and shouting at him to get off. I didn't think he was very good tbh and his music was really different from the Brakes, but he didn't deserve the abuse they were giving him. You could tell he was pretty nervous as it was the first night of the tour and he told us it was the first time he'd played without a backing band. I felt a bit sorry for him really. I've seen some pretty awful support bands in my time-the noise band who supported Sonic Youth and played half an hour of static and feedback come to mind but even they got a polite round of applause when they finished. I guess the Sonic Youth audience might be a bit more open minded towards that sort of thing though.
As for the going to gigs alone thing, I can reccomend it too. Not something I like to make a habit of but if there's a band I really want to see, I'm going to go no matter what. One of the best gigs I ever went to - A Silver Mount Zion - I went to alone and I would have been kicking myself if I missed it because no-one else wanted to come. I actually ended up seeing 65dos alone too when my mate pulled out at the last minute, but I'm still glad I went. If you think about it, you're not really there to socialise are you, you're there to see the band. It can get a bit boring between the support and main act but it's definitely worth doing.

help she can't swim are actually pretty alrightish when you can actually hear what they're doing (ie the second time i saw them) and not just have complete random noise with vague screaming (ie the first time i saw them)

Help She Can't Swim are qg live but I wouldn't go to see them unless they were supporting anyone.
Going to see Boy Least Likely To on Thursday and The Decemberists next month but in the back of my mind thinking about this stuff I STILL can't get over my idiocy at turning down Sufjan tickets |
