I just found out The Delgados have split When did this happen?

Also, has anyone ever heard The Earlies? They are from round my area and I saw them a few times in pubs but they seem to be making some progress now. They have released an album "These were The Earlies" and I have seen them mentioned in various places as being a possible "breakthrough" band. Their style is not mainstream enough to be massive but they are pretty decent all the same.

Finally, heard an Elliott Smith track, "Everything Reminds Me of Her" and pretty muhc loved it for some reason. Is the album "Figure 8" similar to this throughout? I have XO which I thought was very good and self titled which I was dissappointed in so I dont know whether to pick it up or not.

Oh and a music discussion thread would be good, I' d start it myself but I think it would be better recieved if a regular made it.

Yeah, Everything Reminds Me Of Her is a brilliant track :thup: I wouldn't say Figure 8 is similar to it throughout but it's definitely worth getting, it's a really good album.

Funny you should mention The Earlies btw, I relistened to their entire album today. It was pretty good on first listen but listening to it again nothing really stands out. There are a LOT of bands around at the moment doing what they're doing.


AS for Elliot Smith, I find a lot of his solo stuff a little too breathy and whimsical. I'd recommemend the third and last Heatmiser album - the band he left to go solo

when i heard these the misty's big adventure comparison immediately jumped out, i didn't realise they were supporting though. it's very similar but seems just as good. is the ep good tony?

Yeah the EPs good. Listened to it quite a lot today. Though I admit they are a lot better live, but thats because they were superb live.

When they first started I was thinking, hmm no guitarist. But they were brillliant, absolutely brilliant. And a rather nice looking cello player as well

I understand what you mean with The Earlies. Its pleasant but nothing more really.

I've heard bits of Heatmiser but never really gave it much attention. I might try and track some stuff down and give it another try :thup:
