Just got back from seeing "Mistys Big Adventure". What can I say? Absolutley amazing, fantastic. I defy anyone to go and see them and NOT dance, its just impossible.
I didn't get there till 9:30 as the venue is really local and I wasn't to fussed about the earlier bands. However, when I got there the first band were still on and I just caught their last song. I can't really say to much about them apart from three teenage girls and a boy. They sounded quick impressive and rocking, but can't say more than that.
Next band on were called Mon Fio, I found these really really boring. The blokes voice was as monotonous when he spoke as when he sang. I've never seen so many people at a gig especially right at the front (where I was) talking throughout a set. I didn't I may add its just rude. But still not my cup of tea at all.
The main support were absolutely amazing. A band called "The Hellset Orchestra". How can I define these? Well apart from amazing live with HUGE stage presence and just out having fun, a metal-esque cello/violin, hammer horror band. Not sure, to be honest, highly original and very fun.
Band consistsed of.
Singer/ Organ player.
A Celloist
Two Violinists
Saxaphonist.
Drummer.
Bassist.
They were so good, I bought there EP, I think these are going to become big quite soon. But I really can't define them, just original.
By the time Mistys came out the place was absolutey packed, and boy are they good and fun. Any band where the singer plays an egg whisk, and some childrens toy while generally having fun with a bloke dressed as a red dog, with giant blue hands coming out is fun in my book.
All the songs of the 1st album were played and were great live, especially Mulling it over, Sing Song and Remind me a song. They played loads more songs of their second album due out on the 12th, they also had two encores.
Now I went to this gig, by myself (first time ever I went to a gig on my own and I was apprehensive). But this was one of the most fun gigs I have ever been too, everyone was friendly, dancing and going mental. I urge you to go and see these.
I took my camera and as I was in right at the front, the bloke in red with blue hands decided to pick on me quite often, rustling my hair (I need a haircut), and generally going mad.
A great gig, here are some photos.
