so here i am sitting on my couch, laptop on my lap, browsing the web, and specifically, reading the favorable reviews of the new apple ipod touch 16gb. I want one. I really want one. I have a 30bg video one currently, but this is on the blink and will die in the next few months I'd imagine.
Currently I have 2k outstanding on my credit card. Credit card is the means in which I would pay for this ipod. I have it added to my cart and can press confirm order at any time. the temptation is immense!
My argument : I go to work every day so I can spend my money on goods as I wish
The girlfriend's argument : You should pay off your credit card first
My next reply goes along the lines of "but life is too short" which is scoffed at.
Think I'll just order it! Give me a reason, apart from the one above, not too.
I used to impulse buy quite a bit, xbox 360', iPod (when they were expensive), digital camera, laptop, the list goes on.
i have learned though to control myself, i dont think you really need to buy an iTouch although they are a sexy looking bit of equipment, when my iPod dies, instead of going out and buying a new one, im gonna buy a battery for it, its the third gen iPod so count yourself lucky you have a decent iPod
Boring I know but its to easy to roll out the "I go to work line" and then impulse buy your way into debt.
I talk from experience, four years ago I managed to rack up nearly 10 grand in credit card debt. I stopped spending and using some of my savings I managed to clear the debt in a long hard 7 months.
Your reading this and thinking, I wont ever get that far in debt, but its a slippery slope.
I still use a credit card for just about every purchase but I pay off the balance each month so I dont pay interest.
At the end of the day its your choice, I hope you make the right one.
