Wenger has given FK Haugesund until Friday to accept his initial and final offer of a total package of £1.8m (600k up front with the rest based on performance and appearances)for talented 16 year old central defender Håvard Nordtveit.
One of Norway's leading coaches who has coached Norway's U19, U21 and senior international sides, Nils Johan Semb, says Nordtveit is Europe's best central defender in his generation. He is stepping up to the U21 side next season, and is not far from being mature enough for the senior squad. He is strong in the air and in the tackle, and has the skill and composure of a good midfielder. He thinks Wenger could use him for Arsenal's senior team within two seasons and that he has the potential to be better than Terry or Ferdinand.

Hopefully you'll be well out of the running near the end of the season with Wenger having resigned and Henry sold in January.
With you having nothing to play for this means i'll easily be able to nick the corporate Arsenal season ticket so i can watch Everton confirm they're Champions League entry

| Semb is well known for having a good knowledge of youth football as well as senior football and he is a very honest type of guy (we see and hear a lot from him here in Norway now that he is a TV pundit).
Therefore, I choose to believe him when he says Nordtveit is the best 16 year old defender in Europe. Wenger wouldn't have spent two days in Haugesund otherwise, nor would Steve Rowley personally have seen every international game he's played the last two years. That's quite exciting IMO
Of course, there is a long way between having potential and reaching your potential.
