I seriously hope there is a good explanation for the Pascal character. Perhaps they couldn't get the actress to commit, or she was a nightmare to work with or something, because apart from showing Maria to be the cold hearted bitch we all already knew she was, it was just pathetically weak writing. She was an emotional wreck ffs, pretty much every bad cliche written about women and why they can't be figures of authority in the last fifty years.
