In terms of major studios in North America, HD DVD is currently exclusively backed by Universal Studios (including subsidiaries Focus Features and Rogue Pictures), Paramount Pictures (including Paramount Vantage, Nickelodeon Movies, MTV Films, DreamWorks Pictures and DreamWorks Animation), The Weinstein Company (including Dimension Films), and First Look Studios.
| As for Blu-Ray: Quote: |
Currently, Blu-ray Disc is exclusively supported by Sony Pictures Entertainment and MGM (both owned by Sony) as well as Disney, 20th Century Fox, and Lionsgate. It is non-exclusively supported by Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema. Several members of the Blu-ray organization's Board of Directors, such as Hewlett-Packard, Samsung, and LG, pledged support to Blu-ray Disc, and later, also supported HD DVD.

I picked up a 500 GB drive recently, Gregg, so hopefully that will put me in the right direction
For me, it's not so much the cost, as HD-DVD players don't seem all that expensive, but I'm loathe to introduce yet another chunk of hardware to my household that ends up picking up more dust than usage time.

Just to add that Paramount's HD-DVD exclusivity does not include Steven Spielberg's directorial works.

Oh totally agree starvin. Utterly pointless to add something when it's very unlikely to last very long.

quick question re the xbox hd-dvd
anyone know on the HD-DVD player is there anyway for the player to remember where it is before you turn it off, as it is annoying having to find where you were up to by winding it forwards and backwards till you get there.

Seems like Herm was right. Movietyme have gone to pot. Last three packages have taken 10-14 days to arrive.
And they haven't dispatched Bourne Identity even thou I ordered it on Monday.
RSL, neither Blu-ray or HD-DVD currently have the ability to do what your asking.

By the time we got there (6am) all 150 places were already taken. At least I know there are at least 150 bigger geeks than me in the world.
Was worth a try though.
