I'd avoid Full Metal Jacket. It's the worst looking hd-dvd I've seen by a long way out of the 90odd I've watched.
You're right, but the film makes up for it. </BLOCKQUOTE>
True, just was left a big cold by the pq. Which is a shame cos some of the older movies I've purchased like The Sting, Searchers, Casino, Goodfellas all look really good.

Stanny, as HD-DVD is region free the best place to get them is via the US. From the likes of www.dvdpacific.comwww.movietyme.com and www.dvdworldusa.com
Much better selection, and cheaper than UK on the whole.
Yeah got most of mine from dvdworldusa.com, its just a shame i dont have anywhere near as much choice when i call into virgin/hmv in town.
Which actually has the most titles available?
On the shelves it looks like Blu-ray! </BLOCKQUOTE>
Blu-Ray is just winning when it comes to titles out.

I'm sure someone will point out the standalones have 3.454 more pixels or something.
Not sure that's actually a possible oucome mate.
No doubt some techy will say otherwise. Unless you're some spacktastic balloon who has 7 hour arguments about pixels on the AVForums, the 360 and PS3 are easily the best options now. </BLOCKQUOTE>
I'd agree with the PS3 but with HDDVD players being more affordable than Blu-ray players, getting a standalone is worth consideration, especially if you don't already own a 360.

HD-DVD imo as atm it seems to be the pirates/home backup's choice. </BLOCKQUOTE>
Id have to disagree, average joe tends to go where the biggest, best choice is, and that seems to lie with Blu-Ray right now and it doesn't look like HD-DVD is making any moves to catch up.
Besides i think scott is right DVD is likely to keep winning for a long long time, as average joe can't really see a difference between DVD's and HD.
