Wednesday, August 1st, 2007:
National League Picks July's Best Batter
July was one the best months in Ant *Banach*'s career. The Chicago third baseman had his way with opposing pitchers all month while posting a .356 batting average and was selected as the National League Batter of the Month.

Last month *Banach* put up some very solid numbers: 11 home runs, 26 RBIs, 24 runs scored and a .473 on-base percentage.

Wednesday, August 1st, 2007:
Peter *Burrage* Hurt, Out of Action
Peter *Burrage* of the Cleveland Indians could be headed for the disabled list after suffering a fractured hand in a game against the Boston Red Sox. He is expected to miss at least 2 weeks. The Cleveland shortstop was injured colliding with a player at a base. *Burrage* said, "Right now I am pretty sore and I don't feel very good at all."

Monday, August 6th, 2007:
NL Names Reds First Baseman Winner
Richard *McKeon* of the Cincinnati Reds had an enormous week at the plate and today was voted the Player of the Week by the National League.

The 20-year-old first baseman put up some very healthy numbers:

.455 batting average, 3 home runs, 10 hits in 22 at-bats, 4 RBIs and 5 runs

Tuesday, August 14th, 2007:
Gary *Toner* to Miss 2 Weeks
Seattle fans will be disappointed to learn that Gary *Toner* developed a strained posterior cruciate ligament while stealing a base in today's game. After the doctor informed the Seattle Mariners manager that *Toner* was expected to miss 2 weeks, the manager told the press that the rest of the team would have to step up their play until the center fielder could return. "You can't make excuses in baseball, because there's always a game tomorrow," said the team's skipper.

Saturday, August 18th, 2007:
Josh *Bada* Will Miss 7 Months
Josh *Bada* at first refused to leave today's Cincinnati-Pittsburgh game after he suffered a dislocated shoulder while running the bases. But his manager convinced him not to be foolish. "I'm a competitor," the feisty Pittsburgh left fielder said. "I'll play through just about anything." Given time to reflect on the situation, he knew it was in his best interest to get immediate treatment. The injury is expected to keep *Bada* out of action for 7 months.

Monday, August 20th, 2007:
AL's Top Player, *Haz* of Kansas City
This week's Player of the Week was *Haz* of the Kansas City Royals. His award-winning bat ambushed American League pitching for 13 hits in 28 at-bats, 3 home runs, and 8 RBIs while hitting .464 and scoring 5 runs.

Wednesday, August 22nd, 2007:
Dodgers Lose *Squire* for 2 Weeks

The Los Angeles starting pitcher was injured throwing the ball. *Squire* said, "Right now I am pretty sore and I don't feel very good at all."
