Monday, June 11th, 2007:
AL Player of the Week, *Burrage* of Cleveland
Peter *Burrage* went on a week-long hitting spree against American League pitchers and captured the Player of the Week honors.

The Cleveland shortstop battered the opposition for 13 hits, 1 home run, 10 RBIs and scored 6 runs. He hit .565 and posted a .630 on-base percentage.

Tuesday, June 12th, 2007:
Astros Shortstop Injured
"It was kinda freaky. Hopefully, I'll be back in the lineup soon," said a dejected Andy *Jordan* after injuring himself in a game against Chicago. The Houston manager told SION reporters, "He will miss up to 2 weeks with a tender shoulder." The Astros will have to decide over the next day or two whether the shortstop will go on the disabled list.

In 2007 in 10 games *Jordan* has batted at a .222 clip with 8 hits, no home runs, 2 RBIs, 11 walks, a .404 on-base percentage and 11 runs scored.

*Porter* Shuts Out Florida
Chris *Porter* of the Atlanta Braves was firing on all cylinders against the Florida Marlins. He blanked them 4-0 on 4 hits and posted 5 strikeouts and 1 walk.

*Keurulainen* NL's Best of the Week
Over the past week, Gene *Keurulainen* has feasted on National League pitching. Today the St. Louis Cardinals third baseman gobbled up the league's latest Player of the Week Award.

*Keurulainen* swung the bat with purpose all week as he collected a .591 average, 13 hits in 22 at-bats, 2 home runs, 4 RBIs and 7 runs scored.

So far this year *Keurulainen* is hitting .434 with 3 home runs.

Toronto Right Fielder Nabs AL Weekly Award
What a week it was for Michael Danger *North*! The Toronto right fielder took American League Player of the Week honors after wearing out the pitchers with a .500 batting average in his recent games.

*North* registered 9 hits in 18 at-bats as he cracked 3 home runs and drove in 8 runs.

A look at his season totals shows *North* with these current stats: 6 home runs, .423 BA, .581 OBP, 17 RBIs and 20 runs scored.

Dodgers Gaz *Squire* Injured: Day-to-Day
Gaz *Squire* will be watching from the owner's box after suffering damaged meniscus (knee) against the Seattle Mariners. Although team doctors are not overly concerned, they want to play it safe, listing the injury as day-to-day. The outstanding starting pitcher could miss about 1-2 weeks.

Friday, June 22nd, 2007:
Bad News for Atlanta, Chris *Porter* Injured
Chris *Porter* of the Atlanta Braves could be headed for the disabled list after suffering a damaged meniscus in a game against the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. He is expected to miss at least 1-2 weeks. The Atlanta starting pitcher was injured throwing a pitch. *Porter* said, "Right now I am pretty sore and I don't feel very good at all."

This season to date *Porter* has a record of 2 wins and no losses with a 1.60 ERA, has appeared in 5 games and struck out 30 in 39.1 innings.

NL's Best Batter Picked
Gene *Keurulainen*, the gifted St. Louis third baseman, really got the attention of the National League pitchers this past month. He battered them for 37 hits in 89 at-bats, 5 home runs, 14 RBIs and scored 30 times. That top-notch hitting earned him the National League Batter of the Month Trophy for June.

So far this season *Keurulainen* has 5 home runs and a .416 batting average.

Sunday, July 1st, 2007:
*Burrage* Voted AL's #1 Rookie
A rookie, Peter *Burrage* is turning heads around the American League, especially since he just netted June's Rookie of the Month trophy.

The Cleveland shortstop batted .411 last month and collected 37 hits, 10 home runs, 30 RBIs and 28 runs scored.

This could be the first of many such awards if he continues this torrid hitting, but he's definitely put himself in a good position to claim the Rookie of the Year Award later this year.

Colorado Blanks Giants
The San Francisco Giants were almost helpless today in their 8-0 loss to Colorado hurler Daniel *Boskovic*. He kept them confused the entire ballgame and spun a 2-hit shutout.

The San Francisco manager said in the postgame interview, "Tip your hat to *Boskovic*. He kept us off balance all night."

*Boskovic* said, "It just happened to be one of those games where even when I made mistakes, they either fouled them off or someone would make a fine defensive play. It was just one of those games that things went my way."

He had 1 walk and 7 strikeouts in a strong performance.

Sam *Bouchard* sent shock waves through Major League Baseball last week with an eye-popping performance that brought him the American League Player of the Week Award.

A newcomer to the league, *Bouchard* made the establishment sit up and take notice, punishing opposing pitchers with a .480 average, 12 hits in 25 at-bats, 1 home run and 8 RBI.

Where the New York Yankees third baseman goes from here, only the baseball gods know for sure, but *Bouchard* certainly made his mark last week.
