"I hope we miss him next time," the Minnesota manager said. "*Boskovic* certainly pitched a strong game against us today. He was in a groove, throwing everything for strikes. Throwing hard. Changing speeds."
The New York starter tamed the Minnesota Twins 6-0 with a 5-hit shutout, finishing the game with 12 strikeouts and 2 walks in a sharp outing.
"I enjoy facing a team like that where I can get an out on one, two or three pitches," *Boskovic* said. "It gives me a chance to be a lot more aggressive."

*Keurulainen* Sizzles, Swings for the Cycle
Getting 5 hits in a game is no easy feat, but hitting for the cycle is much more rare. Gene *Keurulainen* of the St. Louis Cardinals was on fire today, going 5 for 5 and hitting for the cycle against Washington. But it wasn't a happy day -- His team still lost 8-6 to the Nationals.
In baseball, a player hits for the cycle when he hits a single, a double, a triple and a home run in the same game, though not necessarily in that order. Collecting the hits in that order is known as a natural cycle.
It still was not a bad day for *Keurulainen*, his big day at the plate will still get him a mention in the record book.
He told reporters after the game, "It just happened. Must have been fate or something...you can't plan this. I was more concerned with winning the game. Gosh, I hate to lose. I would be happy to sacrifice the single for a win. Maybe even the home run."
G. *Keurulainen* tripled in the 1st, hit an RBI double in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off
D. *Spotg* in the 6th, singled in the 8th and hit a two-run double in the 9th.

*Toner* Will Miss 6 Weeks
"I'm frustrated right now," said Pittsburgh center fielder Gary *Toner*. "I can't help this team by sitting on the bench or in the training room." Unfortunately for the Pirates, that's where he will be spending the next 6 weeks. *Toner* suffered a fractured wrist into today's game against Cincinnati while colliding with a player at a base. "Believe me," he said, "I won't be out a day longer than I have to be."
Saturday, August 23rd, 2014:
New York Wins, Blanks Blue Jays
New York's Daniel *Boskovic* breezed through the Blue Jays lineup today, collecting a 3-hit shutout and a 4-0 victory along the way. *Boskovic* fanned 12 as well.
"I didn't really feel like I had my game today," *Boskovic* confessed, "but some days are like that -- you just gotta go with what you have."

Week's Top Player - St. Louis's *Keurulainen*
At the age of 27, Gene *Keurulainen* might have some potential he hasn't realized yet -- if his success at the plate last week is any indication. The St. Louis third baseman put up some exceptional numbers the past seven days collecting the National League Player of the Week Award.
He racked up 11 hits in 20 at-bats, 4 home runs and 11 RBIs last week in 6 games.
Monday, August 25th, 2014:

Hooray for *Danger*! Hammers 5 Hits!
Players get multi-hit games all the time. But a 5-hit game only comes around once in a blue moon. It happened at R.F.K. Stadium when Johnny *Danger* of Washington scattered 5 hits all over the ballpark against the Houston Astros.
He walloped 5 hits in 5 at-bats in his career-day performance to help the Nationals get by the Astros 7-6.
In a talkative and jovial mood after the game, the third baseman of the Nationals exclaimed, "Whoa, my swing was really, really there today. I made some good, sweet-spot contact and when that happens...good things happen...like 5-5. I could get used to a lot of days like this one."
J. *Danger* doubled in the 1st, doubled in the 3rd, walked in the 5th, hit an RBI double in the 7th, hit a three-run home run off J. Crain in the 9th and singled in the 12th.

The 26-year-old star suffered the injury in yesterday's Braves-Nationals game while making a defensive play. "It's a gametime decision," noted the team doctor, "It all depends on how Josh feels later today. If he can play, he will."
