Tuesday, May 6th, 2014: *Bouchard* on a Rampage, Hits Cycle
"It's too bad I can't do that everyday!" Sam *Bouchard* joked with reporters after today's game. "Knowing my luck I'll come back tomorrow and strike out every time!"
*Bouchard* had every right to be in a good mood after hitting for the cycle today against Toronto at Yankee Stadium II. The Yankees won the ballgame 8-2, he hit for the cycle, had a 4 for 5 game and boosted his batting average, too. Who says you can't have it all?
He told the press that a triple is the tough hit to get in a cycle. "As soon as it left the bat, guys jumped off the bench and were rooting hard for me to have enough gas to get there," *Bouchard* said. "It was hard to enjoy it...I was breathing too hard...you got to really be in shape to run out a triple."
S. *Bouchard* hit a solo-shot off J. Masterson in the 1st, flied out in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, hit an RBI double in the 6th and tripled in the 8th.
Wednesday, May 7th, 2014: White Sox Blank Athletics
"Sometimes I was smart . . . and sometimes just a little lucky." That's how Luigi *Thirty* of the Chicago White Sox described his shutout victory over the Oakland Athletics. *Thirty* blanked them 2-0 on 4 hits while striking out 8 and walking 0.
Saturday, May 10th, 2014: SS *Jordan* Extends Stay with Astros
Rumors have become reality as Andy *Jordan* put his signature on a contract that will keep him in Houston another 5 years. The deal is valued at $14,898,000 per year.
Tuesday, May 13th, 2014: *Giddy* Thrilled to Remain with Arizona
Jimmy *Giddy* is staying put. The Arizona Diamondbacks first baseman inked a $78,770,000 extension, and will play in Arizona another 5 years.
Monday, May 19th, 2014: Cleveland's *Marshall* Snaps Up Player of the Week
When it came to hitting the baseball, James *Marshall* was in a class by himself in the American League this past week. Nobody did it better. The outstanding first baseman for Cleveland tagged opposing pitchers for a .560 average and was voted the Player of the Week Award. Included in his stats were 14 hits in 25 at-bats, 4 homers, 9 runs scored and 16 RBIs.
Sunday, May 25th, 2014: *Porter* Winner, Whitewashes Dodgers
"He was too darn good for us today," grumbled the Los Angeles manager after his club suffered a 6-0 shutout at the hands of Chris *Porter* of the Boston Red Sox. He held the Los Angeles Dodgers scoreless in a 4-hit whitewash.
*Porter* was in a zone of his own most of the game and finished with 8 strikeouts and 1 walk in a strong outing.
In a postgame quote his own skipper added, "He pitched his butt off, had good velocity, good movement and had those guys off balance. Chris did a whale of a pitching job."
Tuesday, May 27th, 2014: Sam *Bouchard* Injured, Out of Lineup
A blow for Sam *Bouchard* today -- team doctors confirmed he will miss 5-6 weeks with a fractured hand. *Bouchard* suffered the injury being hit by a pitch. Although officials from the New York Yankees are confident he'll make a full recovery, doubts will persist about *Bouchard*'s ability to return fully fit this year with an injury of this nature.
Wednesday, May 28th, 2014: Razor-Sharp *Carter* Blanks Milwaukee
Today at Turner Field Nick *Carter* baffled Milwaukee batters on 6 hits en route to a 6-0 shutout.
"He was able to keep hitters off balance and got the ball down," said the Braves skipper about his starter's performance.
*Carter* had 10 strikeouts and no walks in the game.
Saturday, May 31st, 2014: Nationals *Bada* to Miss One Week
Washington left fielder Josh *Bada* has a bruised ankle, suffered while running the bases. He's expected to be out for one week.
Sunday, June 1st, 2014: *Burrage* Snags AL Batting Honor in May

Sunday, June 1st, 2014: *Marshall* Batters Minnesota for 5 Hits
It was a good day for the Indians at Jacobs Field as they clipped the Minnesota Twins 16-6. It was tremendous day for James *Marshall*, who went on quite a hitting spree with a 5 for 6 barrage.
The Cleveland first baseman told reporters after his big 5-hit performance, "I don't have any buzz words. I'm 'not dialed in' or 'in a zone,' as they say. As far as the hitting goes, I try to keep it simple. I try not to look into it too much. Basically the pitcher throws the ball, I try to pick up the spin, then in a split-second decide to try to hit it. Today I picked up the spin very well."
J. *Marshall* hit an RBI single in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, grounded out in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off D. Powers in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off J. Nathan in the 8th.
Monday, June 2nd, 2014: *Burrage* Punishes AL Pitchers This Week
This past week the best batter in the American League was Peter *Burrage*, who banged his way to the Player of the Week Trophy. Here are the Cleveland shortstop's award-winning numbers :
21 AB, 9 R, 10 H, 1 2B, 1 3B, 5 HR, 9 RBI, 7 BB, 1 K, .607 OBP.
Monday, June 2nd, 2014: SP *Carter* Finalizes Extension with Braves
Happy times in Atlanta as the Braves and star starting pitcher Nick *Carter* put the finishing touches on a $40,380,000 contract extension that will keep the 27-year-old in town 3 years longer.
The signing is great news for Atlanta, because players of this caliber are hard to come by.
Tuesday, June 3rd, 2014: Hooray for *Sikora*! Hammers 5 Hits!
Dominik *Sikora* exploded for a barrage of base hits today at Coors Field. The Colorado shortstop had a field day in the 15-3 triumph over the Florida Marlins, finishing up with a 5-5 day and a spot in the league record book.
"My hitting philosophy is pretty simple," he said. "I focus just to see the ball and try to get a good pitch."
Well, *Sikora* must have focused at least 5 times and apparently got some good pitches, too. It was one of his best days ever with the bat.
D. *Sikora* hit a solo-shot off B. Sinkbeil in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th, walked in the 8th and hit a three-run home run off S. Rowe in the 9th.
Monday, June 9th, 2014: Dominik *Sikora* Out for 3-4 Weeks
Dominik *Sikora* of the Colorado Rockies was injured in today's game against Florida and had to be helped off the field by the trainers. The initial diagnosis is a torn hip muscle and he is expected to be out up to 3-4 weeks. It happened while *Sikora* was running the bases. "It hurt a lot, to be honest. I just hope it heals soon and I can get back on the field."
Tuesday, June 10th, 2014: Outstanding Outing, *Squire* Blanks Twins
In a sharp 6-hit performance, Gaz *Squire* tossed the Seattle Mariners to a 4-0 shutout victory over the Minnesota Twins, fanning 9 hitters and walking 3.
"That's as good a stuff as I've seen in a long time," the Minnesota manager said in his postgame interview.
Thursday, June 19th, 2014: *North* Listed DTD with Injury
It's a long season and everyone picks up some cuts and bruises along the way. The latest star to be suffering this year is Michael Danger *North* of the Chicago White Sox, who suffered a back spasms while throwing the ball in yesterday's contest against Los Angeles. While he could play through the injury, it's unclear whether or not the Chicago organization will risk that or simply sit him out for the one week the injury is expected to last.
Monday, June 23rd, 2014: Big Stick Wins NL Trophy
Jimmy *Giddy* of the Arizona Diamondbacks put the finishing touch on an exceptional week of play by being named the National League Player of the Week. He rocked the opposition with a .476 batting average, 10 hits in 21 at-bats, 3 home runs, and 11 RBIs while scoring 9 times.
Tuesday, June 24th, 2014: *Haz* Launches Number 300

At the press conference after the game, *Haz* downplayed his achievement. "Obviously, I've hit 300 home runs so I belong in that 300 Club. But when you talk about the other guys that have done it, I'm not as good as they were. Those guys were the greatest of all time. I've just been able to scrape together some good years and stayed healthy and gotten there."
Tuesday, July 1st, 2014: AL Choice for Batter of the Month is *Bartholomew*
One of the more consistent batters in June, Los Angeles catcher Iain *Bartholomew* grabbed American League Batter of the Month honors by swatting a stout .415 with 34 hits in 82 at-bats.

He battered them for 34 hits in 98 at-bats, 9 home runs, 22 RBIs and scored 27 times. That top-notch hitting earned him the National League Batter of the Month Trophy for June.

The Rockies skipper added, "Well, it's a shame we didn't get the victory today, especially with his standout performance. Let's just hope our team can do better tomorrow."
D. *Sikora* grounded out in the 1st, grounded out in the 4th, doubled in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 7th, walked in the 9th, singled in the 11th, singled in the 13th and singled in the 15th.
