If Williams was called a monkey, then he should deck the guy who called him that. he would have public support for it and the guy who he hit would learn a good lesson. If this was the NFL or NBA fists would be flying
Isn't this the second time Williams has claimed to have been racially abused? Sheesh, the whole league must have it out for him. You would think the village bicycle would be able to find some peace on his 7 or 8th change of scenery in MLS. </BLOCKQUOTE>

It's the 2nd RSL incident, but IIRC the first accusation (against Nowak) involved a trialist. </BLOCKQUOTE>

I was referring to a '98 incident, when Williams accused Tab Ramos of the same thing. NY midfielders seem to have it out for him. Must be a jealousy thing. </BLOCKQUOTE>

Ah.

I'd forgotten about the Ramos thing.

What changes will Lalas bring? (Los Angeles Daily News)

His first move will be to smoke some weed in the player's lounge. His second will be to fire Steve Sampson

I think that said Alexi Lalas, not Ricky Williams.

Open Cup title gets you **** all. Which is a shame, because that competition really needs something to punch up its importance. The US Open Cup competition is older than the NFL and NBA, but it gets no publicity at all. There have been finals lately with barely 5000 attendance.

For a brief time (like 1 or 2 years) CONCACAF had a second-tier competition (like the UEFA Cup) that the Open Cup winner got entry to. Would be nice if that happened again, but I wouldn't count on CONCACAF to do anything. </BLOCKQUOTE>

there's a reason for that

Poverty, of course. Well, that and all the dollars that have to be directed to Jack Warner's pockets.

RBNY acquire Jean-Phillipe Peguero from Colorado in exchange for Thiago Martins, and their 1st and 3rd round picks in the 2007 draft.

I like Peguero, but that seems an awfully steep price for him.

Which competition is more important - the MLS Cup or the Supporters' Shield?

And which do you have to win to say you've 'won the league'?
