The Athletic Club Bilbao defender Aitor Karanka has agreed a deal to play for Colorado Rapids in the forthcoming Major League Soccer season. The 32-year-old began his career in Bilbao before moving to Real MadridCF in 1997. He won the UEFA Champions League in 2000 and the Spanish title the following season before returning to Athletic in 2002, but injury disrupted his progress. "I have had some marvellous and memorable years at the club," Karanka said "It's very hard to say goodbye because Athletic have given me everything and made me what I am as a person and a player."
