did I ever tell you the story about how some of those guys tried to get a good friend of mine kicked out of a friendly simply for singing a song they weren't singing.

"there's only one pope" such a brilliant chant too

As much as I think they're a bunch of mouth-breathing morons, I think Section 8 would do a lot better than Sam's Army.

Hell, they even brought in flares for the Chicago-DC playoff match in October.

tbh section 8 rules. my favorite supporters group in the mls.

we're sort of acting as sister organizations. one of our founders more or less went to a fire game last season and one of their top guys came to a timbers match.

DC has a good group as well with the Barra and the Screaming Eagles.

Metro and New England are okay, but nothing spectacular IMO. Same goes for LA. RSL was fairly good for a 1st year group, but I'd like to see more. San Jose had a good supporters section, but they were about the only people going to the games.

Columbus had a good group in the V-Army that I think was ground down into apathy by having Coach Clueless kept around for so long. (that and having so much of the group being OSU students who graduate and leave or go home in the summer)

KC and Colorado...do they even have supporter groups? You could probably ask the same of Chivas USA.

word is that the Timbers Army might top 1,000 supporters/game this season, with maybe half of them being diehards.

yeah - we've pretty much 86'd the "you suck, asshole" chant. "if I had the wings of an eagle" already a pretty lame chant so not sorry to see that one go.

picking up more punk rock though. going to do that white stripes chant roma fans have been doing as well as possibly some ramones and pixies. singing 38 year old midfielder scott benedetti's name to the tune of I wanna be sedated so cult.

tbf, "you suck, asshole" is pretty lame.

If stadium authorities force us to be more creative in our chants, that will turn out to be a good thing.
