Man Utd have confirmed they’ve had offers for Alan Smith.
Would really be surprised if we’re in for him, as it goes against everything Allardyce has been going on about defenders being the top priority.
Plus Gudjohnsen is better.

Actually that should say they've confirmed they've had enquiries, not offers.

we're linked with n'zogbia. but only in a swap for diop is what I've heard, which I definitely wouldn't take. although I do rate n'zogbia

ALAN Smith is set to join Newcastle after United accepted a £6m deal for the striker.
The 26-year-old was today due to hold talks with manager Sam Allardyce over personal terms, with the transfer expected to go ahead this week.
Smith was also the subject of a bid from Middlesbrough, who wanted him to replace St James' Park-bound Mark Viduka, but the former Leeds striker was not keen on a move to the Riverside.
Smith now seems certain to leave United, who he joined for £7m just over three years ago. He has made 93 appearances for the Reds, scoring 12 goals.
Smith has been reluctant to leave Old Trafford, but the impending arrival of Carlos Tevez and the singings of Nani and Anderson over the summer means there is little room for a player who has struggled to make an impact on the first team since he broke his leg and dislocated his ankle against Liverpool in February last year.
The transfer is also a sign that United are optimistic they can still secure a deal to bring Tevez to the club before the August 31 transfer deadline
| Thats from the MEN, usually pretty bang on with City and Utd transfers

What happened to Diop? Was being linked with big money moves not so long ago but now he’s being touted at around £3m.
Have his performances dropped or are there other circumstances involved?

My Fulham supporting mate just says he mentally isn't there anymore, doesn't have the drive or passion and since injuries and basically just looks half the player that was so highly rated a couple of years back.
If we could get him up to scratch he's just the sort of dominating CM we've needed since Speed left, great in the air and has a physical presence. I certainly wouldn't trade N'Zogbia for him though.

wouldn't say it's a mental thing. just don't think he's been match fit for an awful long time now. just so regularly injured, and for seemingly small things he'll miss a large chunk of the season. still has the potential to be very good, and dominate a game. I think he might have another good season this year and be sold.

Constant injuries? Well why didn’t you say? Here’s £12m.
