IGood signing if this comes off - from .com;
Incoming:
Aldo in Toon talks
We understand that defensive midfielder Aldo Pedro Duscher (pictured) arrived in Newcastle on Wednesday afternoon, ahead of a claimed trial with the Magpies this week (a story backed up by The Sun on Thursday).
The 28 year-old Argentinean is no stranger to SJP, having appeared there for his current club Deportivo La Coruna in the Intertoto Cup two seasons ago.
Previously with Sporting Lisbon and Newell's Old Boys, Duscher is available on a free transfer after his Deportivo deal expired.
-----------------
Not seen much of the lad, but am aware he's always been very highly rated - and he's available on a Bosman. If we do sign him then I guess Edmilson won't be coming ?

And apparantly according to Depor fans he's way past his best and they'll be happy to have him off the books even if it is for a free.

Well if he doesn't measure up in his trial then we can cut our losses. He's 28/29 as well so not quite over the hill yet.

If he’s that highly rated then why is he only on trial, where are the other clubs looking at him etc?
Sounds a bit fishy tbh.

Oh and Arsenal have signed Bacary Sagna so it will be interesting to see if they move onto Martins as their next target.

Martins speaks again \o/ Quote:
Obafemi Martins is braced for showdown talks with Newcastle boss Sam Allardyce, with the powerful Nigerian seeking assurances on his future following the arrival of Mark Viduka.
Newcastle had a dearth of attacking options last season following serious injuries to Michael Owen and Shola Ameobi but the pair are now fit, and when coupled with the signing of Viduka, Martins could find himself scrapping for a starting spot.
Martins showed in his debut campaign in England last term that he has all the attributes to be one of the division's finest, with the pacey front-man having exploded into life in the second half of the year, after what was a slow start.
Such good form prompted talk of a £13million swith to Arsenal, when it became public knowledge that he had insisted on a release clause, upon his arrival from Internazionale.
Allardyce must now reassure Martins of the role he is to play at St James' Park next season, after the player told the Daily Mirror: "I have a meeting with the manager when I get back to training.
"We will see what happens then."
While Martins' future remains subject to conjecture, one man delighted to be wearing black and white is Viduka, and the big Australian cannot wait to work in tandem with Owen, who has this week pledged to stay at Newcastle
"I believe that these can be good times to be at Newcastle which is why I am more than happy to be here," he told The Daily Telegraph.
"The fact he (Owen) is going to stay here at Newcastle has got to be brilliant for the fans and the team.
"He's obviously a very different player to me, but I would like to think that if selected we would be able to complement each other very nicely and create a successful partnership."
| Sounds like hes seriously considering life at Newcastle which is of course promising, mon after a Big Sam chat soon we wil get a nice statement saying how much he loves the club and would never leave |

...... a key figure at Newcastle for the past few years looks set to depart. It is believed that Kenneth Shepherd, son of the chairman, Freddy, and involved with transfers, has been told by Mike Ashley's new regime that he no longer has a role.
| Please be true.
