Ha, that's a good point - didn't he suggest an amount when he said that - £50m or something? If his spending reaches whatever he said, he's made a bit of a rod for his own back there.

At Bolton he actually had a solid team and a very well organised backroom.
We have none of that, which is why he said "You could give me £100m and we still wouldn't win the league this season".

Allardyce has done the whole 'not overnight' thing and i dont think any right-minded person needs to be told that. I guess everyone is getting ahead of themselves with the Allardyce, building a club, now has money thing. Only 3 year deal though. It's gonna be an interesting season

I think he suggested something along the lines of him getting the better of Ferguson, Wenger, Mourinho et al in a hypothetical "equal budget" scenario.

Well he managed to cause them all sorts of problems at Bolton with zero budget. Imagine if he actually had been given an open wallet.
I doubt they'd become champions, but they'd certainly be up there.

His backroom staff at Bolton were ace. Consider their injury record alone, very few. However, i'm a firm believer in players being 'injured' when things are not to their liking as opposed to really be injured. When things are going well everyone wants to play through little niggles but when things are done that becomes 'recurrant' and an excuse to sit out
