He's a pain in the arse in the Barca dressing room. Performance levels have been fine this season.

Very good opinions on him in the Barca thread btw, if you want more details.

The Deco storyline came form the News of the World claiming that Mike Ashley wanted to sign Raul and Deco because he’s a huge fan of them and wants to put our name on the map internationally.
What they don’t mention is that Ashley isn’t involved in the running of the club and has appointed Chris Mort to deal with Newcastle United on his behalf.
Seems that other papers have picked up on the story and are running with it, while nufc.com suggesting he might be coming for a medical this week from ‘credible sources’.
I might just be hugely sceptical, but so far I haven’t read anything so far to get me thinking about Deco in a Newcastle strip. If things move on then so be it but for the moment it’s not worth getting excited about.

Would be very surprised if Deco moves to this league tbh.

To be fair to the lads at .com - it's not very often they get it wrong.

Today's Journal are reporting that another signing is imminent in the 48hrs or so. Believed to be a top-centre back, but no names as yet. Fat Sam apparently met the player yesterday to discuss personal terms.

Possibly Beye or Hyppia? The Journal have a poor track record when it comes to transfer talk though.

Maybe Neil - I've not seen enough of the former, although did he play against us for Marseilles a few years ago in that UEFA Cup Semi ?

Can’t remember if he played or not. It’s usually a bit harder to remember defenders unless they have an exceptional game or do something noteworthy.
We’re also being linked with the Copenhagen defender whose name escapes me.
