It is very poor journalism, yes. Then again - it is the NoTW.
If we are to go for a forward, then surely Gudjohnsen would be a more-likely bet and again this could only happen if Owen or Martins leave.

Don't know if any of you check out Newcastle Online but there are some decent photos on there from Newcastle's training camp in Austria.
There were also a few rumours Luque's career at Newcastle was over despite Sam's promising words a week ago as he didn't travel with the squad, but instead he's just got married as shown Here - don't be confused by the July 06 - that's 6th July 2007.
So maybe with a new bride he has even more reason to settle into a new life and perhaps, a new start at St. James?

Read that article in the NOTW yesterday. Really is quite funny how they can do stuff like that. If we were making two signings to put us on the world map they could have at least thought of two better players.

Chronicle linking us to Heinze as long as we beat off competition from Real Madrid, AC Milan, Juventus, Barcelona and Liverpool. No problem then.

Nufc.com are also suggesting that Deco might be on his way from Barcelona !
Deco deal done?
A story which broke on Sunday in the News of the World concerning our interest in Deco (pictured) of Barcelona appears to have moved on quickly, Monday bringing claims from credible sources that the player is expected on Tyneside for a medical this week.
Spanish newspapers reported last month that the 29 year-old Brazilian-born Portuguese international midfielder was on a list of players who had been declared surplus to requirements at the Nou Camp.

if it is true, then we must be paying him **** loads in wages. but then again, like someone on NO said, i'd rather pay stupid wages to some like deco, than pay stupid wages to players like dyer and parker.

I’ve been really disappointed with .com recently. In the past their stance on transfer gossip is that they’ve never reported about deals until they’re on the verge of completion and not cater to tabloid rumour spreading but lately that’s just gone out the window and ever rumour printed in the papers gets a mention.

wonder if some of their sources have been lost with the change in power?
tbf to them, then do print more rumours, but dont really give them any more subtance than they deserve unless it seems like there's something in them.

I think .com's mole inside had to go quiet for a bit, IIRC. Normally they print rumours that have some substance and also pour scorn on those which are outlandish.
