How long before top 4 finishes start to appear in honours lists like that? If losing in the Community Shield is worthy of inclusion, getting into the Champions League certainly should be.
That was a bit laughable, wasn't it, including coming 2nd in a competition involving 2 teams.
Just noticed your location BG. Excellent. That man could really whistle.

Now you're being managed by the despicable and corrupt Allardyce, and have signed the utterly vile Joey Barton I'd just like to confirm that I'm now firmly aboard the "I hate Newcastle" bandwagon.

It's interesting that Allardyce has come in and got about that defence, ok ben Haim is off to Chelsea but Rosenthal and seems to be targeting alot of defenders. Finally, someone at the club has seen how appalling your defence has been for years. Why is it that you have never seemed to bother addressing this defensive thing that is glaring like a bright glaring thing ??
Or am i wrong ? |

Or am i wrong ? | People have tried.
Robson brought in some good and pomising players (including Bramble) and we did well. Then Souness came in and sold off half the defenders and spent the money on one defender, Jean Alain Boumsong.
Roeder on the other hand just stuck his fingers in his ears and went 'lalalalalalalacan'thearyoulalalala' whenever anybody mentioned the defence. He did exactly the same when Sol Campbell, the perfect signing for us, became available on a free transfer.

Or am i wrong ? | Defensive players have been brought in over the past decade, but I was only ever really impressed with Woodgate and a Portugese CB we got on loan from Depor (Helder), 5/6 years ago. Problem is, defenders have been signed on good reputations but clearly they aren't good enough. We seem to have been at the mercy of a bevy of agents and not done our homework properly. Hopefully now, things will change.
We've had the bad defence tag since the Keegan days, but the reality was that during 95/96 we only conceeded 2 more goals than Man United who I think had the best defensive record that year IIRC. Since then it's a tag we've struggled to shift.
