Roeder is of course very bitter, but he's correct in that Allardyce is rolling out the excuses already.
But then you lot already know my opinon of the fat ****.

Roeders excuses are ******** though, he had a net spend which was far greater than Allardyce's atm.

Roeder says he never received the backing that Allardyce has already received. he spent 15m on Martins and Duff last summer and recouped how much?

Asmo how can he say he never received the backing (assuming he means financial) when we have not seen Sam spend any serious cash so far. To make those claims now is ridiculous. Not to mention the fact that Sam is operating under a completely different regime so the comparison is moot in any event.

With regards to Roeder - if you believe what Souness said the other week (about Shepherd's influence with regards to transfers) - he may well have been told, you are getting Duff and Martins as big buys and that's that. Working with one hand tied behind your back is never a good way to be on. Thankfully those days are now over, with Shepherd's influence now being severely reduced.

You're right in that it is moot, especially when you consider that in fact Roeder's buys may not have even been his own (despite his defending them as his own).
My original point (before we moved onto Roeder) was that I find it very strange that Allardyce is already making excuses, when he has always been so brash and confident of his ability to succeed when given the opportunity and backing.

| Perhaps it's because he knows his arse is on the line already. Mike Ashley didn't bring him in (as far as we are aware), so he's not his man. I reckon if Fat Sam doesn't deliver at least a top 6 finish, he'll be looking for a new club next summer. It's as simple as that. It could be similar to what happened with Ranieri when the Russian took over at Chelsea.
