Sorry hatrick of posts but had a bit more of a look and found a few more for you to consider.
I can't say which is the best and which one you should get but I would recomend try and stretch to £450 if you can.
I would go for the Panasonic TX-26LMD70F or better stil the Panasonic Viera TX26LXD7. i notice there is a sharp for under £400, sharp is one of the best for LCD.
Ok been looking at avforums trying to get an idea on what tv to buy and tbh my head hurts and I am none the wiser.

Budget £750
main use at the moment is sd sky and Xbox 360(although will likely get around to HD Sky before long
Size wise, anywhere between 32" and 42"

Not even going to bother alternatives because it is one of the best LCDs available and a great price.
It is ful HD meaning 1080p so is the best display you can get although you would need over 42" to really appreciate the difference.
It has 2 HDMI so you can connect your 360 and sky HD via HDMI and as it the response time is 6ms it will be great for watching fotball and playing games.
I would go for the Sharp one because it is full HD and £250 cheaper. I think Sharp have a new model out which is why it is so cheap while that Panasonic is their latest model but try and view the tvs yourself then buy it online as it will be cheaper.
Done a search on that sharp LCD have a look what they say about it as might not be that great but I think it won lots of awards about a year ago.
I dont know anything about that panasonic model not really looked into LCds for about a year but might get a new one sometime next year so might read up on a few myself and see which is best for me.
