If I was buying a tv i would go for the
Sharp LC42XD10E http://www.viking-direct.co.uk/catalog/catalogSku.do;js...EF1=IPUK707999FROGLE
If I didn't have as much to spend I would go for the Sharp Aquos LC42XD1E for £899 both LCDs are full HD 1080p.
Full HD tvs now start around £740 and I would go for Resolutioun of 1920x1080 and response time of 8ms or less.

Depends really, some LCDs are on a par with Plasmas. However there are not that many that fit that bracket.

Well I was looking at over 37 so thats helpful.
Is there a significant price differential between Plasma and LCD?
Also, I saw one of those tv stands with built in cinema sound (about £700). Any opinions on them?

regarding LG - Don't they make most of the panels for LCD tvs anyway regardless of make?
Pretty sure they make the panels for other people as well as their own LG and Philips brands.

This shows how hopeless I am, didn't even realise that LG were anything to do with Phillips.
So what about the Bravia and Vieras? Are they overpriced?

| Different companies but they've got a joint venture to produce LCD panels so google tells me.
